En route to Green River, Wyoming - a change of scenery.....

Saturday 1st June, 2013

Jackson to Green River, Wyoming (258.2miles/413km)

Left Jackson this morning and drove south with the Grand Tetons on our right and the Rocky Mountains on our left, all snow-capped and glistening in the sun. Today is perfectly clear and much warmer than we have been for over a week. Once we drove out of the mountains we travelled across the high plains of Wyoming through a few small towns. We stopped for lunch at Kemmerer where J.C. Penney set up his first store in 1902 and it is still operating. We then drove out to Fossil Butte National Monument where they have found many fossils from an old prehistoric lake and we saw a very interesting display in the visitor centre; unfortunately most were only replicas or photos as the originals are at some university for research purposes. We then drove back towards Kemmerer and then on to Green River where we are spending the night in a large motel.
