Seeing the USA in our Chevrolet travel blog

Well, today we found the mangled house shaking California highways we were dreading and Juanita was cringing every mile along the way. Fortunately the cracked, pot holed nasty stuff pretty much ended when we reached I-5, but today had me wondering why I keep doing this to myself. I said "never again" in the spring, yet here we are for Part II.

The drive from Vacaville to the Kit Fox RV Park in Patterson was only 112 miles, but I needed the short journey today to make up for the stress of moving through the SF Bay Area and getting up before 5 AM with a puking puppy. I'm not sure which was worse. Our rolling villa is OK and so is the barfing Beagle.

The weather today was outstanding and the forecast looks pretty good for the remainder of our journey to Arizona. Some wind is predicted for Mondays drive through the Mojave Desert...just hope it doesn't keep us off the road too long, if at all. We are not in a big hurry anyway.

The Kit Fox RV Park is a basic one night type of park. It is well laid out for easy entry and departure, clean and fairly inexpensive for California at $36. Again, our space has all the usual stuff and the cable TV isn't bad. Interior roads are paved but the pads, which must have been concrete when new are broken and covered with gravel now. The spaces are level, however, and long enough for our long trailer and truck. There isn't much space between sites, but we have an end space with a grassy front yard.

A nearby KFC provided the dinner chicken and other goodies and we should have a good rest if nearby I-5 traffic doesn't keep us from decent sleep.

We are planning on the longest travel day of the drive to Arizona tomorrow with just over 200 miles to our next stop in Bakersfield. We will hang out there for two nights before heading off into the desert.

Expect to hear more about our journey tomorrow evening............................
