Christmas day drink and view from the bedroom.

Mmmm, not sure that I would fancy this job.

Sunset over the mountains, from my bedroom window.

Leaving Bac Ha early on Christmas day, I had decided to head back to Sa Pa where I knew the wi-fi would be good enough for the family Skpe-time!. The journey back to Lao Cai was not the best as, with a previous bus-ride, the locals did not travel well and three of them were sick on the way. Unfortunately, there were no plastic bags to hand so they just vomited onto the floor...can someone remind me why I thought that a trip like this was a good idea? The only good things about this trip were that it was a lot quicker than the journey to Bac Ha and a good deal cheaper too.

I arrived at the hotel and spent the rest of Christmas Day just walking the town and generally chilling (with an odd bevvy or two). It turned out that the party night had been Christmas Eve, so Sa Pa was very quiet. which meant a good night's sleep before the journey to Hanoi the next day. I bought the sleeper train ticket to Hanoi for the fantastic price of 425,000 VND, with no mark up; that's around £12.50 for a 12 hour train journey!
