We packed up early this morning and moved to the nearby town of Show Low, Arizona. This was one of the shortest moves we have made, only 18 miles. :-)
I was interested to see how a name like "Show Low" came about, I checked it out in Wikipedia and found this interesting story. According to the legend, the city was named after a marathon poker game between C.E. Cooley and Marion Clark. The two men decided there was not enough room for both of them in their settlement. The two men agreed to let a game of cards decide who was to move. According to the tale, Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs (the lowest possible card) and replied, "Show low it is." The stakes were a 100,000 acres ranch. Show Low's main street is named "Deuce of Clubs" in remembrance. How cool is that?
We are very happy with our new site. We have great WiFi and cable for the local channels PLUS our regular Directv too. Life is sweet. :-) Our site is surrounded with trees, I will be putting up the bird feeders and relaxing for a while. I will be taking pictures of the new site and adding later. Check back later for more from Arizona.
