Today we started with the Bachmans leaving at 8:45 for a trip to the auto parts store to buy a battery for the tow car. It actually only took about 45 minutes and the store offered free installation at the front door. A girl actually installed the battery. We left the campground at 10:15 again deciding not to use the toll road. We headed East on Interstate 86 toward Albany for about 25 miles in Pennsylvania. Then we crossed into the State of New York and the roads immediately turned to SH????. 86 is called the Southern Tier Expressway. It is very green all of the way. We crossed Lake Chautaugua which was 12 miles long. We then passed through the Allegany Indian Reservation. Home to the Seneca and Iroquis Nations. After we crossed over the Allegany Reservoir the roads improved greatly and then became worse than before. We experienced our first rainfall today. It only lasted about 15 minutes. Just enough to clean the windshield but messed up the cars.

We passed Tioga Downs which was a race track, Casino, and also had wagering. It was out in the middle of nowhere. We passed the Finger Lakes region which are 7 long narrow lakes very close together. We arrived at Belden Hill Campground about 12 miles east of Binghampton, NY at 4:45 after driving 288 miles. We set up camp and relaxed and wandered around the campground. Very pretty scenery. We are expecting possible showers tonight. We enjoyed a great meatloaf dinner prepared by Linda and are getting ready to settle in. We will head to upper Massachusetts in the morning. We are now going to slow down our pace.
