Air National Guard, North Pole, Alaska

Alaska Mountain Range, Denali National Park

Rare, 2 bull moose feeding in close proximity

July 17...

The sky was overcast when we left Delta Junction, but the it soon cleared to another beautiful day. We drove through North Pole and Fairbanks on our way to Denali National Park. There was more road construction near Denali, but all told the roads were good.

Once we were settled at McKinley RV park, we drove into Denali to the visitor's centre and drove the 15 miles we could go in our own vehicle. This part of the park is much more rolling hills than I expected, but it was still beautiful.

We spied Mt. McKinley in the distance and hope to take the shuttle bus further into the park tomorrow.

July 18...

Rained most of the night. Light showers this morning so we opted not to take the Park tour. We drove ourselves back into the park as far as we could. We got lucky and saw 2 huge bull moose feeding about 150 feet off the road.
