Lake Huron Dunes -- The Pinery Provincial Park of Ontario

Following our wonderful Niagara Falls experience, we pointed the truck / camper west to begin our return trip to Wisconsin. Decided to spend the night on Lake Huron ... to complete our "Great Lakes Experience", in that we have camped on the shores of each of the five Great Lakes in the last 30 days. No Provincial Park sites right on the water ... but within sound of the wave making white caps ... just on the other side of the dunes. This park reminded us a lot of Indiana Dunes Park on our second day out for this trip, on Lake Michigan.

We arrived in Alpena MI after our night in Ontario, meeting up with new friends Randy & Holly of Holy Hill country just north of Milwaukee whom we met last winter in Texas ... they were one of three couples who were activity directors in the park we wintered in. Randy and Holly are just starting their full-time RV experience, heading to Florida for this coming winter. Turns out we were crossing paths so decided to hang out for a couple of days in Alpena MI, on Lake Huron ... and discovered it was the annual weekend for the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival. Watch our next post for great lighthouse pics.

Campsite for the next few days is on a beautiful man-make lake (dam them) ... just west of Alpena ... Mute Swans came in the first night.

Enjoy our pics.
