Hello from Valencia, CA. This park is quite full and congested, hoping we get a good site. Most of the park is lined out like others, side by side, row after row. We were assigned site K18. This site is at the back of the park on one of two circle. We had the outside site and were looking across to a pretty park in the middle of the circle. We made out like a bandit!! There is quite a bit of grassy space on both sides of the RV. Also it is just across the street from the bathhouse. This is the prettiest site in the campground and it is ours!!
We came out here to visit my family (Aunt Kathy and Uncle Gil) who live in Santa Clarita. This place is about 12 miles from their home. We were out here two years ago and stayed in Acton which is about 25 miles away. This is better all around. And it is a straight shot down the road without having to get up on I-5!! Yes!! They live at the top of a hill in a really nice subdivision. Looking across their backyard you see the San Gabriel mountains. This time they were so green, it looked like a carpet had been spread over them.
On our drive over from Pahrump, we were so pleasantly surprised by how green and blooming the desert was. There had been enough rain to green everything. It was amazing and beautiful!!
Most of this week was spent visiting with family. I don't get to see them often enough, so we spent as much time as possible. We had dinner together several times. I made corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day. It was quite good if I do say so myself!
On Friday Tim and I spent the day visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. It sits up on a hill with a beautiful view of the area. Nancy Reagan had just been laid to rest there a few days before. The Air Force One that President Reagan flew in was on display there as well as Marine One. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I recommend it if you are in the area.
On our way back home we took a wonderful mountain road that took us through many citrus orchards. We stopped at a roadside fruit stand and bought a bagful of fresh fruits. Yum!
Saturday Tim and Uncle Gil went fishing. They came back with a whopping lot of nothing! But they sure had fun trying. We had them over for dinner that night for a fish fry, but I had to get the fish at the grocery store! Oh well, we had fried cod and it was delicious!! All's well that ends well, as they say.
On Sunday we went to a huge swap meet. There was so much there it was hard to see it all. Tim and I love swap meets and flea markets. The next day Tim and Uncle Gil took a drive out into the mountains on some really backwoods roads. They went four-wheeling some and had a great time. That night we went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant.
I spent the last day visiting. Tim didn't feel well so he stayed home. We had a great visit and we will miss them very much. They were going to rent a small RV and travel with us for a while, but it just didn't work out. Maybe next time.
By the way, they have a hummingbird feeder in their backyard. The hummingbirds flock there in numbers. They even fight over who gets to drink. It is so entertaining to watch them. There are a number of birds and other critters to watch. So enjoyable.
Our next stop will be Vines RV Resort in Paso Robles, CA.
