We are happy to report we have made it to California. We had some rough driving on the way, we climbed tall hills and raced back down them for miles. Once we passed the hilly section, we got on Highway 199, it was horrible. We saw signs telling us not to take any campers over 30 feet on the road, we were already ON the road and had no place to turn around. We took it slow and made it, but we won’t be going that way again. It was scary passing huge trucks and campers on those narrow roads with huge rocks jutting out of one side and no room to get off the road.
We were very happy to park our RV and get all set up for a month. They gave us a wonderful site, with ocean and river views right out of our windshield. This area is where the Smith River meets the Pacific, you can see the river in front and the waves of the ocean in the background. I have already spotted several otters playing in the river. We are happy campers, all set up, ready to rest and then explore the area. Check back later for more from beautiful California.
