October 30, 2017-Road Trip! We are on our way to Wellington we stopped at the Tui Brewery for some beer tasting and lunch. The brewery is named for the Tui bird, which is found all over New Zealand. Originally the company was known as Wagstaff’s, after the founder H. Wagstaff. But he sold out and it became the North island Brewing Company. When the Tui Pale Ale won some beer awards, they changed the name to Tui.
The Tui brewery had its own tasting room and café, and Adventure Caravans covered a tasting and lunch. So we enjoyed the tasting (I only got one beer—I was driving) and had a good lunch as well on a beautiful day for a drive.
Tui also had some cool stuff as souvenirs. We couldn’t linger as we had a sanctuary to visit on our way to Wellington.
