Watched the sunrise from my room, then off to the metro station to go the meeting place for the van to the top of Corcovado mountain where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is at. Corcovado is 710 meters and the statue is another 38 meters to the top, and this is one of the seven wonders of the world. The statue was started in 1926 and completed in 1931 made of soapstone and reinforced concrete, covered by tiles, there are 220 steps to the top (and now there a escalators which I used LOL) it is 2326 ft above sea level standing at 98 ft, the outspread arms is 92 ft and it is located in the Tijuca Forest National Park Of Brazil. I Have now been to all seven of the wonders of the world, the last time I was in Rio 10 years ago the statue was covered in sheets of black plastic while being repaired. The trip up the mountain was by van from Copacabana beach to the visitor center, then by another van to the top platform, next level on a elevator then a escalator to the very top. WoW when I got to the top about 9:00 AM it was already very crowded but was able to work my way through the crowd and get some pictures. then back down the mountain before the big lines formed LOL. On the trip back down the mountain in the van I was lucky to get the front passenger seat great view coming back to Copacabana beach. Walked along the beach from Porto Number 2 to porto number 5 where my hotel was located, a stop along the way for a small hamburger, lol and small beer, the hamburger had a beef patty, slice of ham, a fried egg, plus lettuce and tomato, what a mouth full, then back to my hotel for a short nap HAHA. Back out in the early evening for a walk around the area, stopping for some cheese, lunch meat, and chips and maybe there was a beer in the bag, back to room to check emails and plan the next day events then off to bed making it a great day in Rio.
