Morning everyone

Decided this was the easiest way to send a message.

We have had two weeks away now. Travelling some of the time with sisters Carol and Gloria, and their hubbies David and Roland.

First stop was Rangitikei Golf Course. Ken, David and Andrew (friend who started out with us and will be rejoining us, along with Dianne, in next few days) played nine holes of golf and Carol and I walked six of them. Then had a couple of nights in Wellington. Spent the day with Melanie and James. Visited the Terracotta Warriors at Te Papa, which was very good. Ferry trip uneventful, thank goodness.

Had a night with friends of friends in Rarangi when we arrived in the South Island - Pete and Rachel were very welcoming to our three motorhomes and caravan, fed us very well and sent us on our way with a bag of goodies each from their vegetable garden. We've stayed at Whites Beach (north of Rarangi), Blenheim racecourse, a couple of DOC camps on the way to Tapawera. Onamalutu was a huge grassed area, with several beautiful walks through the surrounding beech forest. St Anaud very picturesque with its lake, which I walked part of in the morning.

We then had a couple of days at Tapawera, along with 601 other motorhomers! Nelson area of NZMCA had a rally there - Music in the Mountains. A very entertaining weekend, with various events and great music at night to sing and dance to. Caught up with friends from the village, Kaye and Ron, who were parked near us and chatted to Ken and Gloria as they drove in. Motorbiking friends Ed and Robin called in on their way to Invercargill to the Bert Munroe event, so a very sociable few days.

We've since been over the Takaka Hill and had a night over there, had a couple of nights in Motueka and last night in a paddock behind a pub on the way to Blenheim. Ken and David had to go and have a beer in payment for staying here :)

Weather has been fine and sunny all the way. Very hot until yesterday. Lots of smoke over Nelson area with the fire - we could see it getting worse yesterday. It's so very, very dry here.

We walked part of the Abel Tasman track on Wednesday. We did 11.16km (or thereabouts). Ken did so well. Just a bit tired yesterday.

Today we are calling into Havelock for mussels for lunch, then on to Blenheim to park up for the Food and Wine Festival tomorrow.

Hi to everyone.

Heather and Ken
