|I went down to breakfast this morning and it was a little disappointing. There was no scrambled eggs or sausage at the buffet nor any pastries. Just bread for toast, cereal and waffle makers. So, I had a waffle and a yogurt for breakfast.
I did some work on the computer fixing old family pictures that have faded, or discolored until 9:30. Then I went over to a Bank of America for some money, and then headed to WESTPEX Stamp Show at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront Hotel, only a short 8 minute drive away.
WESTPEX is in its 59 year. The show has of 280+ frames of international exhibits (many were on Antarctica philately), 75 dealers from around the world, meetings (American Society of Polar Philatelists was one of many organizations meeting there) and seminars on every facet of philately, plus booths by the US Postal Service and the United Nations Postal Administration.
I visited with dealers new to me from the West Coast and Canada to see their stock and make purchases. Plus, I attended the first day of issue ceremony of the United Nations 2019 Endangered Species stamps.
After I had wiped out what money I had budgeted for the show, it was now 3:00, so I had lunch/dinner in the Flights 101 Lobby Lounge at the hotel where you can look across the water and see the flights from around the world landing and taking-off while enjoying your meal. I had the SF Roasted Chicken Sandwich with bacon, avocado (it’s California – I think it is state law that everything has to be served with avocado), mozzarella, & tomato. It was served with French fries. It was very delicious (and a little sloppy) and very filling meal.
I then stopped for gas (I used GasBuddy to find the cheapest in the area – only $3.79! Others were up to $4.39) since I have to return the rental with a full tank. The drop off is only one and a half miles from the hotel.
I prepacked my luggage, worked on pictures and was going to watch Blacklist show on NBC at 8 & 9 o’clock. But, (and Sharyl will like this) NBC was showing the SF Giants playing the NY Yankees. Bummer. So I read and relaxed in anticipation of my flight tomorrow.
