We headed to lava beds (which have many caves) and stopped first at Medford, OR to take the Harry & David's tour. It was neat and we bought alot of good things at the store. When we got to the caves and went into some of them the first day. The next day it rained and we went in the car to Klammoth refuge and saw many animals and birds. The next day I had planned a 3 mile hike to see some caves. That night the rain turned to snow and I hiked all day in it. It was like a white out and by the end of the day we had 18" on the ground. I was wet through my clothes and the short stops at the caves helped to keep me warm. I had contact with the parents via radio and when I told them I was heading to the road for a lift, dad came out and picked me up. Mom was waiting with hot tea and soup, bless her soul. I was alittle sore the next day, but it was a fun adventure. When the roads were good enough for travel we headed to Redding, CA.
