Mar 9, 2014 - Linhares Bush Camp to Porto Seguro, Brazil

Saturday 8th March 2014 Bush Camp to Porto Seguro, Brazil We left our camp by the side of the road at 5:30am after having breakfast. It was hot today and fine. We drove for 14 hours along mostly good roads and finally reached the camp at Porto Seguro at the beach at about 7:30pm. It was a long tiring day that started very early for Lynn (3.15am) due to a snorer in the tent next to us. David was on cooking duty when we arrived in the evening. Sunday 9th March 2014 Porto Seguro, Brazil Today we had a late slow breakfast with eggs and bacon...

May 2, 2008 - Porto Seguro

Very pretty town, nice for Brazillians on holiday. For me it was ok. I went and got myself a nice room and had a wonder around. It was certainly cheaper than Rio. The place is very pretty and beat bloomin Vitoria hands down. At last I felt normal again! Still no other tourists / backpackers to be seen which was annoying because of my limited Portugese.. but I had nice food, took a look around, listended to music in a lovely bar by the sea and booked my next trip to Trancoso where I was supposed to be meeting up with Claire my friends friend...

Mar 15, 2007 - The beautiful beaches of Itacare

This week ive been in itacare Yesterday i trekked through the jungle for an hour with an israeli and a brazilian to arrive at the most perfect beach. Nice waves, the oceans at the perfect temp all day, white sand and where the sand stops bowling green lawns and coconut palms begin, and where that ends the jungle begins. After a stressful surf and having to relax on the beach for hours we trekked back through the jungle to the river (also at the perfect temp)to the waterfalls which give you a massage. Surfing in boardies, Pete

Feb 24, 2007 - Porto Seguro..

Hi guys!! We are now in Porto Seguro, about midway between Rio and Salvador on the Brazilian coast and it seems to be a Brazillian holdiay paradise. I would swear that we are the only westerners here, and seemingly the only people that speak English which is a bit of a challenge for us as our Portugese is even worse than our Spanish, and unlike Spanish which I could get the idea of what someone was saying when they spoke to us I have absolutely NO IDEA what people are saying when they speak to me in Portugese... EEEKKK!! We were...

Jul 17, 2006 - Arraial d'Ajuda / Trancoso

Here are a few clips of our fun in Arraial Dájuda. We absolutely loved the week that we spent here and met some really great people. The hostel was like a little jungle retreat with palm trees and hammocks everywhere (and a great brekky!). I dont know whose marvellous idea it was, but a group of us decided to make the 2 and a half hour trek to a place called Troncoso, in the midday heat! The only delight was a mud bath half way along! Obviously me and jackie saw our opportunity for a free beauty treatment and jumped right in, unfortunately...

Aug 20, 2005 - Welcome to the world of Capoeira!

Hi all, Since I last e-mailed you we have been to Puerto Seguro and Arrial D'ájuba. Both are little fishing style villages was beautiful beaches and very quaint little villages. Although we haven't been that lucky with the weather the beaches have been absolutely beautiful and I wish I could get some photos online for you all to see. In Arrial I got to see some Afro-Brazillian dancing and lots of Capoeira thanks to one of the guys we have been travelling with who is a Capoeira teacher in Paris and fluent in Portuguses. Capoeira is a form of...

Feb 17, 2005 - Brasil - Porto Seguro

We found a Pousada and dumped our stuff. We took a walk around the town, and did some planning for the next stages of our travels. In the evening we were too tired to go out and get some food so we stayed in our room and slept for 12hrs. We spent the day at Arraial d´Ajuda which is a ferry ride away from Porto Seguro. We got off the bus at the wrong place and ended up in a water park. Spent the morning there and went on some of the slides and rides. It is not worth the money !! We then headed into the town and took a walk down to the beach....

Feb 11, 2005 - Porto Seguro

The 18hr bus trip from Rio to Porto Seguro turned out to be much easier then you would expect. We did have a help though, in the form of our last Dozile sleeping tablets. I slept about 8 hrs of the trip and Damien was out for about 12! The weather was extremely hot when we arrived (around 3 or 4pm) so a dip in the hostel pool was our first stop. We found we were in luck with the last day of Carnival in Porto Seguro being celebrated with the famous Timbalade bloco from Salvador. The blocos consist of a band perched on top of a massive 12m...
