Mar 7, 2012 - Day 6 - Flamengo Practice

Today we were supposed to play beach soccer, but instead, we got an even better once in a lifetime opportunity! After enjoying a free morning where we sunbathed, we were lucky enough to be invited to observe the Flamengo practice....where the one and only Ronaldinho plays!!!! We had a lot of fun as we sat on the side of the field and watched as the team prepared for an important game. We were surprised to see that they have just as much fun as they did work hard. After their practice ended, many of the players were kind enough to come over...

Mar 6, 2012 - Day 5 - Game 2

Today, we had practice at 9am at the Zico Training Center and were coached by the Brazilian trainers again! The training was awesome and the weather was beautiful. After training, we went to a new restaurant for lunch. We went back to the hotel for about an hour until we had to load back onto the good 'ole bus for the game! Ian kept us entertained with some nice Jersey Shore jokes, and by chanting "game day" during the entire warm up. Today was a great day! We started the day off with a great breakfast nice and early at 7:30 am. Once we were sufficiently full, we got our cameras ready and headed on a bus ride to see the Christ of the Andes. Despite the traffic in Rio, the vibe on the bus ride over was excellent, as we were all ecstatic to see this monumental statue...not to mention the scenery on the ride was absolutely beautiful. When we finally reached the entrance point, we unloaded the bus and then proceeded to load onto another van in which we rode up the winding...

Mar 4, 2012 - Day 3 - Futsal

This morning was very rainy and cloudy. We woke up early, had breakfast and left for the futsol game around 8:15. It was a long bus ride and most of us used it to catch up on sleep. We played at Vila Olimpica against Secretaria De Esportes E Lazer in Duque de Cavias. The women were very creative and they really enjoyed playing the game. Although we lost by 12 goals, it was an amazing experience because we learned so much about the Brazilian's style and technical abilities. By watching the women play, we were able to see parts of our...
