Jun 1, 2016 - Edmonton, Alberta

Got off to a good start this morning. Filled up with fuel .89/liter & dumped the tanks and took on a full tank of fresh water all before 8am. That's because I thought it was 6 when i got up but it was actually 5. We aren't having much luck with our restaurant choices, not awful but not great either. They've got money up here that has a picture of my third grade teacher on it! (pic) haha, never seen anything like it! Also driving down the road today this trucker with two 53' trailers passed me, (pic) never seen anything like it! Ha. Anyway...

May 29, 2016 - Parry Sound

After spending 3 nights in Massey, at The Chutes Provincial park, we decided to do less of a drive today, after all we're not in any hurry. Currently we are in Parry Sound, home of Bobby Orr. Every town has a sign up for what they're famous for. Example, did you know that the host of Canada's Amazing Race is from Russell, Manitoba? A very quaint town, with a restaurant called Connie's Diner! Anyways, back to where we are, campground called Oastler Lake, a smaller campground right on the lake. Nice for overnight, and there are only like 3...

May 27, 2016 - The Chutes Provincial park in Massey, ON

We are back in the land of the electronic living! No phone service or Internet for the last 2 days. Man this province is big!! It took us 3 days to drive around Lake Superior, and we are now on Lake Huron. We're just west of Sudbury and will stay here until tomorrow, we are tired of driving. But I tell you, it is beautiful country, the Canadian shield is almost like driving through the mountains, some places the rock is pink! So far we have seen a black bear, 2 moose ( or is it mooses?) some deer, 4 of which came through our campground and...

May 27, 2016 - Made it to Edmonton

Had a cloudy and rainy trip through Jasper and did not get to see the Mountains. But the truck sure enjoyed the cooler weather. Stayed in Hinton last night and today arrived in Fort Saskatchewan. had a great inner with Diane Card and her family here. Tomorrow will go rock hounding on the North Sask river where it joins the Sturgeon river. It is an old Native area where there are lots of things to find. We will see. Found a nice piece of petrified wood where the resin is also petrified so it is smooth and shiny. Sent it to my lovies for...

May 23, 2016 - Kenora, Ontario

We had an early start and made it to Kenora. We are in the Rushing River provincial park, staying in a beautiful site with a breathtaking view. It's 25 degrees right now and it is already 5:30 pm. Dogs were a bit restless today, we are limited on how long we can drive, but there's no rush. Now that the weekend is over we won't have any problems finding a campground. Will lure you into more exciting details of our trip tomorrow!

May 19, 2016 - Arden, Manitoba

We made it to Manitoba last night and are staying in a beautiful campground surrounded by a creek, with a small waterfall that lulled us to sleep last night. We will stay here until the long weekend is over and then will continue on. The dogs are being very good, they went for a swim in the creek and are all sleeping now. It is 24 here and there is a lovely breeze. May have a nap this afternoon..... Arden has 150 people and is famous for having the largest crocus in the world, picture will follow. A big hi to everyone. We miss you!

May 17, 2016 - Lanigan, Saskatchewan

Well we left Edmonton yesterday after handing over the keys to the new owners, a little lovely couple with 2 kids. Drove as far as the Halfway Campground, which is half way between Lloydminster and North Battleford, hence the name. The wind has been terrible, so far it has ripped part of the roof vent and some of the side skirting. Some trouble with the trailer brakes, but all in all it has been pretty good. We drove until a town called Lanigan in Saskatchewan where we will spend the night. Our goal for tomorrow is to get to Arden, MB...

Nov 28, 2015 - What was I thinking?

Well, I guess I have no one else to blame, when it gets right down to it. I had lots of prior experience and should have known that an innocent inquiry would lead to this predictable predicament. And so, back in May, when I asked Mikey after Minyan (Eminem, as I like to call him) if he thought that he & Colleen might be interested in joining us for a jungle adventure in Costa Rica, I really shouldn't have been surprised when, within the next 24 nanoseconds, he had the 4 of us booked and ready to leave. It got real when Eminem started...

Oct 29, 2015 - Camrose AB -- home sweet home!

Hello! Canadian crisp air and blue skies welcomed us in Edmonton as the sun set. It was a seamless flight home from Iceland, over the polar icecap, northern Quebec, and onto Toronto for customs. Unlike India sending us to a new city for immigration (I may not have written that piece up) Toronto had two officials meet us at the hanger. Never was my entry back home so much fun. No line up, pay my duty, back in the aircraft for Edmonton with a new crew! I missed Captain Rob and Ken at the landing. Could they land a plane! I felt like Ariel...

Sep 29, 2015 - "Twas the night before...."

This is a new computer. It has a new photo program. I'm not exactly sure how to use it. You will just have to bear with me while I learn how to run the darn thing. But I have the sweetest little MacBook - gold coloured - which is as light as a feather. I'm hoping that it will travel well. It's the night before we leave for Japan. One more sleep. Stan and Janet Franklin are getting up early and will come by to pick me up and then we will head over to Pat Henderson's to pick her up and then off to the airport. I was all set to bring my big...

Sep 25, 2015 - Flying home

We were up about our usual time of 8:00 a.m. This morning. We got ready ad repacked the one case we had opened, then checked out of the hotel and wended our way to the north terminal of Gatwick airport. We checked in at the Icelandair desk and went through security. Christine needed to make a duty free purchase so I guarded the bags while she did so. We then settled into the lounge that Icelandair provides and had our breakfast. I did some work on the newsletter and Christine read. We had a snack then went to board the airplane. It was on...

Sep 10, 2015 - Jasper and Banff National Park

Left Edmonton early this morning to travel thru Jasper and Banff National Parks. It was very pretty day with plenty of people out. This is the first day since we left Bellingham that the temperatures have warmed up. It actually got up to 70 degrees in Calgary this evening where we are staying. Tomorrow, Lord willing and I hope he is, we will be back in the lower 48. It has been 21 days since we left Bellingham. Traffic here in Calgary is horrific and we just happened to arrive here during rush hour. How thankful for the guy who invented GPS.
