Oct 31, 2013 - Day 2 - in Edmonton

We headed into Edmonton to deliver Polynesian Dance costumes from Jenn's dance group to Amanda's dance group. On our way to Lucienne's house, while travelling along the Yellowhead, Garry pulled over to check out the wobbly feeling he was getting. He discovered one missing lug nut, and the rest loose, on the rear drivers side tire.We had the tires rotated at AMP a couple of weeks ago as part of the semi-annual service. Garry pulled out the lug wrench and tightened the nuts on all the wheels, but only one wheel had loose nuts. We made our...

Sep 10, 2013 - Back in Edmonton, Alberta

We are back in Edmonton. Drove all day. We lost one hour in the time change at the Alberta border. We lost another hour when we had to stop while the road was cleared from a rock slide. We spent the first hour pulling the trailer up the mountains at speeds of between 60 and 80 kph. We finally arrived in Edmonton about 5 p.m. The weather is sunny and warm. The price of gas in Edmonton is $1.17 compared to $1.35 to $1.50 in British Columbia.

Sep 6, 2013 - 4 more sleeps

It's Friday, We leave on Tuesday morning. I've got our suitcases open on the sofa and have already packed most of our clothes. Just a few tweeks and we will be ready. I've found out from our Tour Guide, Sharon Gallaway, that there will be 28 people between here and Toronto and we will pick up another 10 in Toronto....a nice size tour. She advises that when we get on the bus, we will be given a more detailed itinerary with times to board the bus in the mornings and approximate times of arrival at our hotels in the evenings. Sharon says she...

Jul 29, 2013 - Stayed over

Went to West Edmonton Mall today, they say it’s the largest in North America, 800 stores, 100 restaurants, ice rink, theme park, water park, putt putt golf, zip line, movie theatre, sea lion show, we walked for 5 hours and I only bought an outfit for Colby, we did get to have Bourbon Chicken for lunch. We stopped by Best Buy talked to them about some stuff going on with laptop, had to go get the laptop and bring it back, said there was nothing wrong with mine and he gave me an idea of what to do, and if that doesn’t work take it to Best Buy...

Jul 18, 2013 - Beautiful Weather in Edmonton

We made it to Edmonton, and enjoyed a nice walk downtown in the river valley along the Saskatchewan River. Made arrangements for the Riverboat dinner cruise tonight. We also took an afternoon to tour the Fort Edmonton Park where the cities progress is displayed from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. Allot of walking but quite enjoyable. We have been here 3 days and I managed to stay away from the West Edmonton Mall, but I think my luck is running out as she says it has to happen today…..

Jul 1, 2013 - Alberta Beach AB

Jun 16, 2013 - Edmonton, Canada

June 14 - Last day at Fort Macleod Ed was going to play golf at the oldest golf club in Western Canada however, the weather this morning did not cooperate. Then we decided to check out what is called the Fort but it is a replica and relocated and quite a bit tourist attraction so we pretty much bypassed it. Instead we took a tour of the area and came across this neat bridge on the Oldman River. The river runs all the way through the town and right out our back door at the camp. We asked about the fishing but they said the river is running...

Jun 13, 2013 - Torvill and Dean

After two days r&r in Vancouver we headed off to Edmonton (a flight of about 1.5 hours) . We were met at the airport by Marilyn Richardson ( I had worked with Marilyn when she was in Australia some 11 years ago) who proceeded to welcome us with hugs and kisses. As we drove towards the Richardson residence it was a difference not to be surrounded by mountains and snow the country being very flat. The weather was showery and cool. We met Marilyn's husband Brian who also made us feel at home. The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up. T...

Jun 2, 2013 - When stars align....

For a few years now it has occurred to me that while we have had a lot of family trips over the years, and while each of us has been to Israel a number of times, we have not in fact ever been there together. This summer, we'll reach that goal, thanks to a combination of events and plans. In brief, here is how you achieve this desired outcome: Step 1: Arrange for your daughter to finally leave the basement. This will likely cost you money but, let's face it, what doesn't? There are a number of tried and true methods. Mine required that I...

May 22, 2013 - Updates and Changes to our Itinerary

Since my first entry, we have now changed our tour from 20 days, starting in Toronto (flying there from Edmonton and catching the bus there) to actually catching the bus at its first stop in Edmonton. We have added 9 days to our trip with stops across Canada on the way to Toronto and in the US for stops on our way back from Niagara Falls (where were were going to leave the tour) I`ve begun my scrapbook already with maps from Google and pictures of stops (overnights) from the Internet. This will not surprise a few of my friends...ok, many of...

May 2, 2013 - Setting up my Journal

Just over 4 months until we leave on this vacation. As usual I plan, plan, plan. We hope it will be a relaxing holiday as no one will have to drive and everyone can enjoy the scenery. No cooking or cleaning for at least 20 days. Packing might be a challenge, but that's my next site to look up. :)
