Apr 11, 2018 - Busy Wednesday

A busy day...Walmart, lunch, Costco, Superstore, Homesense, coffee, and the day was gone! Julie and Leigh met us for lunch and I gave her the princess quilt I made. It is for her 60th birthday which is a few months away but I wanted her to have it sooner rather than later. It was hard keeping it a secret as she kept showing up at the fibre arts centre while I was working on it! My childhood friend Pat and her mom, Marg, live in Lethbridge so we met for coffee. It has been a few years since we saw them but it felt like yesterday...just one...

65 is good!

Apr 10, 2018 - Lethbridge, AB

We are getting closer to home! Another uneventful travel day....just as we like it. We continued on interstate 15 and only a few stops today. One for coffee and another for coffee and a last fill up for diesel at $2.98 in Shelby, Montana. The stop at the border was 45 minutes even with going in and paying the duty for the alcohol. Once again we knew we were over and more than usual as we have more space in the fifth wheel. LOL Next time I will make sure I drink all the wine! Our Plan A was to stay at the campground in Milk River and visit a...

65 is good!

Aug 28, 2016 - Lethbridge to Canmore

We're on our way to some of God's beautiful country. Not that we haven't seen a lot of His beauty already but we'll be seeing more. We're heading to Jasper National Park tomorrow. Kim is in awe at the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Wait until tomorrow! We plan on getting up early and heading north, stopping along the way at the many sites. I may have to space some of the pictures into the next couple days. Enjoy our journey.

Rocky Mountains-2016

Jun 27, 2015 - Canada

Our trek back thru Canada. We left Anchorage, Alaska on Father's Day. Our kids all wished us a Happy Father's Day. Had an excellent breakfast in Palmer, Alaska. Our freezer is starting to give us problems and we are very concerned that we may have to cook all of our food. In Tok, Alaska an RV Tech. said "if it aint broke don't fix it", so off we go. Next the Yukon, going thru the first 100 miles of Destruction Bay, Rosina tried to stop us from bouncing and tossing and turning but the roads are terrible!! Words can't describe what these so...

Rolling Vacation

Apr 18, 2015 - Out Of The Mountains

We packed up and rolled out from Cranbrook British Columbia. But then we found a Rogers store so we got our Canadian phones up and running again and we got internet to go for the RV as well. By then it was almost lunch and oh... look... there's a Tim Hortons... so lunch looked like the right thing to do. Once we got rolling, we had 3 hours of driving... the first two hours was following the river course through to Crowsnest Pass. We drove around Mount Fernie, followed along the Kootenay River, stopped to get pictures of mountain sheep...

Winter West

May 29, 2014 - LETHBRIDGE, AB

Northern Montana and Alberta not as green yet and high easterly winds. We were allowed across the border except they confiscated some personal defense spray (but would have allowed bear spray). Passports now required. We get to slow down tomorrow.

Al & Jan on the Road

Jul 28, 2013 - Traveling through Canada

We woke to our last morning in the United States for a while. Today we headed over the border towards Lethbridge, Alberta. It was a slow start, since Lisa wasn’t able to do much. George found himself taking on several more tasks. We managed to be on the road by 10:45 with only 85 miles to drive. We crossed the border at Piegan/Carway without incident. We had all our papers in order and answered all the questions correctly. We entered Canada, where the price of diesel is high, gallons are liters, miles are kilometers and degrees are Celsius....

Aug 13, 2012 - Disconnected

Lethbridge, AB. Since we are in Canada and do not have cellphone service, we feel a little disconnected. We had not realized how much we use the phone - especially since we get lost so often. Now we have just have to hope we can find places on our own without technology. We are staying in a Quality Inn that is a little different experience for us. We have a nice room but it is still a typical motel room. What is not typical, however, is the snack the hotel provides each night. We are treated to slices of strawberry-rhubarb pie, mini...

Aug 12, 2012 - Up and Over

Lethbridge, AB. Crisp clean air, the smell of pines and wild flowers, 52°, vividly blue skies, puffy white clouds, beautiful scenery, and hordes of tourists. On our way to Canada, we took the 50-mile long Going-to-the-Sun Road through Glacier National Park up through Logan Pass. Naturally the 50-mile drive took us hours. Because portions of the road hug the mountainside and there are a few tight curves, vehicles are limited to 21’. The Suburban is a little over 18’ so we were fine. Heading east toward Logan Pass, the passenger, Jim, was...

Jul 4, 2012 - Lethbridge to Edmonton

Getting into Canada was much easier than we had anticipated. There was no American departure only Canadian entry, they asked if we had guns, capsicum spray or bear spray, the answer was of course no and off we went. We belong to a group called Western Horizons Resorts (WHR) which gives us cheaper rates to stay in affiliated resorts. The Bridgeview Resort was one such place we could get cheaper rates and we had booked in weeks prior to arriving. Because the phone lines were out for a number of days our booking was never made through WHR. The...
