Jul 24, 2018 - Homeward Bound

A sad/happy day. Sad that the trip is coming to an end, happy to get home! A nice day for travel. As we had radios between the two vehicles George informed me what the different crops were that we were see-ing. As I said before I am a city boy so traveling with a 'farm boy' I learn a lot about farming . We got to Rimbey about lunch time so we stopped in at the A&W for our 'last lunch' of the trip together. When we got to Sylvan, we parted company with George and Margaret. We to RD and home. George & Margaret to Innisfail. The end of a...

Jun 19, 2018 - Departure

Somewhere around 10a.m we left Red Deer, along with Glenn & Barb Erb in their class C. We stopped at Bear Hills sometime later and met up with George & Margret Rehman in their 5th Wheel. Our convoy was complete. Our next stop was in Mayerthorpe. We visited the Fallen Four Memorial Park and paid our respects, so sad! The road was for the most part pretty good. Their were some bad parts, but we were in no hurry. Arrived at the park around 6p.m. Supper and then everyone hit the sack, tired. Nothing to exciting during the day except Glenn fell...

Jan 26, 2016 - Back in the Desert

Well here we are back in Nevada! Temperatures have been very pleasant but the wind here in Laughlin is a little more than I like. I can't help it ....I'm Canadian and that gives me the right nay Obligation to bitch about the weather. We celebrated my 65th birthday on the 16th in Red Deer, and the kids came home for the party that they were instrumental in organizing and it was a very special day. Neighbours and old friends came by and it was great to see everyone... Sunday the Chadults left and Irene and I sorted and stowed and prepared to...

Nov 5, 2015 - Lost Time

Well I have not been very devoted to my journal entries for the last few weeks! We put the trailer into enclosed storage at Fort Mojave on the 29th and started the drive back North. Overnighted in Henderson and Ogden Utah then had 3 nights in Great Falls Montana so Irene could spend her casino winnings. (Took 25 minutes) but we seem to have adopted Great Falls as our US hub. We have been home for two sleeps and are trying to get caught up on all the things that we have been neglecting at home. We plan on returning to our Adventure at some...

Jun 7, 2014 - Into Canada

I don't think I mentioned that I had a steak last night of the best-ever variety - medium rare, jucy, perfect. Would you believe in the Country Kitchen associated with the Town Pump gas stop?!!! This am we got out of town with a slow start. We got to the Dufy Free Shop after 9am. Paul got a good buy on cartons of cigarettes and I got a watch for $6. I thought I got the better deall. We did not enter Canada until 10:20. I would guess the wait time on the border was about 20 minutes. As we drive over this unending prarie we continue to see...

Jul 3, 2013 - Red Deer, Alberta, Canada to Liard Hot Springs, Alberta, Canada

Thursday, July 4, 2012 – Wal-Mart at Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada One of our new LED taillights had water in it and is not as bright as it should be so we went looking in several RV stores and other stores for a replacement but did not find one. Lowell and I had Sushi at a sushi place just across from the Wal-Mart “RV campground”. As usual we did some shopping in Wal-Mart and got an early night sleep. Friday, July 5, 2013 – Wayside at Hudson Hope, Alberta, Canada We went to W.A.C. Bennett Dam near Hudson’s Hope and took the tour. A bus...

Oct 27, 2012 - Homeward Bound

(for some reason I can't get in and edit the pictures I posted, so there may be duplicates.) The title should read 'Homeward Bound & Home' I guess. But that would be too much to type. As you can see I hope, I posted a bunch of pictures. Leftovers you might say. I wasn't to happy about all this white stuff laying about on the ground, but I guess I will get use to it. I actually put on about 12 lbs in the last month and a half, so I am not going anywhere until I lose it, I will become a hermit! It doesn't look like I will be riding my bike...

Sep 26, 2012 - Todays the Day!

This is the beginning of a month holiday to Ontario, commencing with boarding of the Via Train #2 to Toronto. We decided to travel by train as a birthday present to ourselves. So it begins. We spent yesterday afternoon and today packing. I pack by priority of course! First the Computer gear, then comes the golf clubs. After that all the incidentals, like clothes, wash gear etc. I can't understand why we have to pack 7 days worth of stuff, why not just 2 days worth and then do laundry? However when I suggested this to Margret she made some...
