Apr 15, 2010 - Wrap Up

After travelling over 6000 miles, spending 71 nights in RV Parks, moving the fifth wheel 19 times, crossing 16 State Lines, visiting 10 States, crossing the International Border 8 times, crossing the Continental Divide 5 times, travelling through 3 different Time Zones, and spending one night in a Motel, we are back in Alberta. We’ve decided our highlight of this year’s trip was our visit to Moab, Utah where we enjoyed the hiking and back road jeeping. Our biggest disappointment was our visit to the Mission, Texas area. We really enjoyed...

Apr 13, 2010 - Ahead of the Storm

Tuesday morning we checked the weather forecast for the area and found out the storm would not hit Alberta until later in the day. In fact, the forecast for Calgary was for very little snow but Central Alberta was to get 20-30 centimetres of snow. We decided to make a quick stop in Calgary and then drive on to Stettler AB where we could set up for the next 10 days. We arrived in Stettler around 3:30 and set up. We are the second RV to be in the campground this spring and do not have full services but have enough to get by. Late in the...

Aug 3, 2009 - A picnic on the long weekend

Happy August Long Weekend to All... On Saturday we have tornadoes near by, high winds, and all sorts of crappy weather and what do we do? Well the next day we head north to Stettler and decide to camp - in our tent....yup! But the days were sunny and warm - the evenings thunder, rain, lightning and some winds – but the 2nd major storm on Sunday night headed more northeast and missed us in our tent! Yes, we were very happy about that. Once we arrived, we wondered if we were going to be able to actually get a campsite – it was the long...

Dec 16, 2008 - Regina to Stettler & Back to West Coast Dec 15 & 16

We left Balgonie around 7:00am for the drive to Stettler. The morning temperature was -32 with a wind chill of -47. When I started the Escape it was very cold and stiff and took a while to warm up. Our trip to Stettler would be heading northwest all day so the day before Renie & I put cardboard in front of the radiator to help keep it warm. After our goodbyes to Tanya, Kevin and Reese we headed off in the cold. We arrived at Stettler around 2:30pm where we had a visit with Connie’s mom and Judy and Doug. Doug and I took the Escape back to...

Jul 12, 2008 - Trip to Stettler

Connie, Jill and Isla went to Stettler for the day to visit Great Grandma Irene. They had a good visit, from there they preceded to Drumheller where they got to see Jill’s Cousin Stacey and her two boys. I stayed behind with the animals after listing a house in the morning. In the afternoon I set up a satellite dish to improve TV reception while on our travels. First order of business was to watch the Roughrider game in the afternoon.
