Jul 19, 2015 - Evans Scandinavian Trip - Getting Ready

Hello Family & Friends, This is my first post to our Scandinavian Trip Journal and the best way to start is to recap the itinerary. Our trip includes: Copenhagen-Denmark, Oslo, Flam & Bergen- Norway Stockholm-Sweden Helsinki-Finland Now let's talk a bit about getting ready to go. We leave tomorrow July 20th and today is laundry and packing day. Some of you might already know this (Dorothy/Paul, Les/Marie) but for those who haven't travelled with Dave and I, we tend to always pack way too much. It's weird though as I always seem to miss...

Jun 9, 2011 - June 8,2011: Day 5-502 miles: Alberta

Johnny gets up at 4:00AM(6:00 Eastern). Jan tells him she is on Canadian time but she gets up anyway. She can sleep in the car as so far, Johnny has done all the driving. Johnny fixes a big breakfast so we don’t get on the road until 6:00AM. We get gas ($1.219/liter). We pay $80.02 in Canadian $$. We get gas at the “Convenience Store” and see oil workers gassing up on their way to work. Johnny goes in and uses the “washroom” which is unisex. We travel on. We see a Wal-Mart and a McD’s. We pass big grain facilities, “Pioneer” and “Viterra”....

Jun 22, 2010 - Langham, Saskatchewan to Vegreville, Alberta

The road follows the ridge of a big, deep valley – barely visible at the bottom is the N. Saskatchewan River. The valley is very pretty w/many shades of green. Nearing Battlefords, there doesn’t seem to be as much flooding; the farms here are very...

Jun 29, 2009 - Vegreville June 29 - 30

June 29, Monday It seemed like a very long uneventful drive. The scenery was all the same – flat, grasslands, and a few trees. We did find about 100 sea gulls on the highway playing chicken with us. Vegreville with a population of about 5,000 somehow rate a Super Walmart. What’s the matter with Chilliwack? We also found many pretty Greek Orthodox churches. We’re staying at the campground park that has the giant Ukrainian Egg and found out that it is a weather vane and moves with the wind. It was made to celebrate 100 years of the RCMP in...
