Jul 23, 2018 - On to Whitecourt

Rained a lot on the way to Whitecourt. We stopped at 'Wheeler's Restaurant' for lunch. Near Little Smokey! The food was excellent. The owner was also the cook. Three of us had the fish & chips. Gassed up at the Shell station at Valleyview. $135/litre. Arrived at 'Sagitwag RV Park outside of Whitecourt. We played some 'Bocce Ball'. Lots of fun! George & Margaret are the experts at this game. I tossed the balls all over the place except where they were supposed to go! Like anything else it takes practice... Off to bed as we will be on our...

Aug 4, 2015 - Leaving Airdrie to travel to whitcourt

We left Airdrie at 11 am and arrived at the Whitecourt Lions camp ground. we stayed 1 night ($32), met another group that were in town for a wedding. On our drive here we drove through some wicked rain storms - typical for Alberta. Also we saw lots of bears. This is a typical Lions camp-ground, very clean and tidy, level sites for RV's, plenty of room for tents. We had full hook ups, I only used the power. Nice little town on hwy 43, there is a small museum just across from camp ground entrance.

Jun 20, 2012 - Made it to Whitecourt

We took the scenic route to Whitecourt, AB. Came up on route 22 and bypassed Edmonton. Starting to see fewer homes and more open land, and Harriet spotted a Moose. We stopped for fuel in Whitecourt and the guy who was filling his car next to us started talking to me. Found out his wife is from Peoria. He and his wife live in Canada but maintained their U.S. Citizenship. We are looking forward to arriving in Dawson Creek tomorrow, it will be nice to stay in one spot for a couple of days. No wyfi at this RV park so no contact with anyone this...

May 26, 2012 - Day 3

Oh my, the vast expanse of ND & Canada & the wheat fields is unbelievable! One can see forever! Beautiful! Of course we are hoping to see wild animals - well, Aldie saw this buffalo but it wasn't moving - well, it was "barbed wire" buffalo! Oh my! But . . further down the road we did see a herd in a Nat'l Park roaming by the road! Coming into Lloydminster, AB Aldie noticed the alternator wasn't performing & in checking it out, it wasn't, in fact, we needed a new one. Once again we located a place to help us out & they were closing at 5:00...

May 20, 2012 - Leatbridge, AB to Whitecourt, AB (May 19)

Update for Saturday May 19th. Again it was an easy drive from Lethbridge, Ab. to Whitecourt,Ab.. The highways were just like US interstates. I drove at 100 to 110 kph. Thats 65 to 70 mph. Deceided to stay at a campground instead of a walmart. The campground was run by the Whitecourt City and Lions club. It was a very nice place. Madeeggs bacon for dinner and did some laundry. When we got up the next morning it was 28 degrees outside. I replaced my shorts with pants again. I just read on forum I am monitoring that in Dawson City, Yk. Canada...

Jul 29, 2011 - Alberta

We got an early start and headed out, as we were going thru a one-lane construction zone on the south side of town, just as we passed the flag-woman; about 75 yards down the road was a good sized Black Bear eating berries working its way towards her. They may have been watching each other. That was the only thing we saw today, besides the Ravens. We stopped in Dawson Creek for gas and lunch. We had a $25 Canadian rebate from FAS-GAS on all the liters we had bought from them on the trip, so that made that fill-up a little more palatable. The...

Jun 21, 2011 - Whitecourt, Alberta

Today was another easy day. We decided to go to Whitecourt, Alberta, about 200 miles from Red Deer, our last encampment. Its somewhat funny....the last two places we have stayed at have said when I checked in.....going to Alaska? I say yes, and how do you know.? "Every year your whole country packs up and heads for Alaska." Obviously, that's not true and even so, they are the beneficiaries of it, because we go thru Canada to get there. Gas prices are high, Alcohol prices are high, food prices are high. We met a Canadian family in Hayward,...

May 14, 2011 - Still at Carson Pegasus

Another beautiful day. Sunny and cool and the wind is starting to blow. The ice on the lake just about disappeared today. So there were more loons and osprey. Talked to a guy this morning and he had got his limit of 5 trout before 10:30 AM. The fish were all about 12" long and weighed a pound each. The ranger was telling us about a camper from Ontario who had got his limit and two of the fish were in the 2-3 pound range. According to the locals these fish taste great as the ice is just off the lake and the water is very cold. Spent the...

May 13, 2011 - Lucky Day

Lucky Friday the 13th. The bikers will be headed to Port Dover today. No wind so we are out of here. Spent the morning vacuuming the truck, emptying the holding tanks, filling the fresh water tank and getting ready to leave. An easy drive on a four lane highway and arrived at Whitecourt, AB and Carson Pegasus Provincial Park. Got a beautiful site beside the lake. Ice is partially out and should be all gone in a couple of days. Place is so nice we decided to stay for the weekend. We spent the afternoon napping in the sunshine and Marilyn...

Sep 16, 2010 - Whitecourt, Alberta

Brrr...pretty cold this morn...36 degrees. We have breakfast, get preparations completed for traveling and started our day of travel. We drove to Hythe to fuel up. While Tommy is putting fuel in the MH, I watch this beautiful dog in a truck at the pump next to us. She is really putting on a show for anyone interested and of course I am. I stood it as long as I could and ask her owner if I could see her. He said yes, she is a people dog. She is a black lab and her name is SASHA. She just lapped the attention up, she was beautiful. I talked...

Aug 31, 2010 - We're in Alberta

Hi Friends! Well, it’s been an interesting trip so far. We’re stopped for our fifth night and we’re in Whitecourt, Alberta. We’ve had a few small troubles along the way, but thankfully nothing we didn’t conquer. We started out Friday, August 27th. We had to stop at Intel to pick up Fritz’s expense check, then go deposit it, and then drop Paden off to his Aunt and Uncle’s in Glendale. We visited with them for just a few minutes, bid them goodbye and we were OFF! However… Friday night traffic haunted us all the way to Flagstaff. What should...

Jul 6, 2010 - The beginning of all my journies...

As with all good trips I plan to take there is packing involved. Never is the packing same twice either... I find I have to repack my essentials from one weekend to the next even though I have it always ready to go incase someone decides to whisk me away on a whim hahahaha. Anyway, it's almost 10pm and I still have yet to make sense of all the crap on my bed that has been included in various trips before. Hopefully I get some sleep tonight!
