Apr 27, 2017 - Fort Langley

Today I did a bit of re-organizing of things in the motorhome & now I can find what I want most of the time. I’ve decided this is officially the start of my sightseeing trip with the major objective of learning more about the history & geography of Canada, plus seeing some outstanding scenery on the way. It was overcast again so I took my umbrella when I walked to Fort Langley but didn’t need it all morning & the sun came out for brief periods this afternoon although the temperature didn’t get much above 16C. Built in 1827, Fort Langley was...

Apr 26, 2017 - Rosedale to Langley

A gloomy morning with rain periods but it stayed dry while we took the dogs on their daily 30 minute walk. I left Rosedale about 10:00am & drove to Safeway in Chilliwack but stupidly I left the RV Park bible at Mike’s house so they kindly drove all the way to Chilliwack & caught up to me in the Safeway parking lot to deliver it. My grocery shopping was painfully slow because all the brands are different so it took forever to find what I needed. Now I’ve got supplies for the next few days & I’m sure that by then I will have compiled another...

Canada 2017

Jun 26, 2016 - Back Home

We are finally home! Three weeks, 6 national parks, and 5,639.1 miles later. We've had fun, and after a long and rather uneventful ride home we're glad to back. I liked San Fransisco the most just because. Taira enjoyed Redwood National Park, but she doesn't have a clear favorite. Mom, of course, liked white water rafting the most. Well I don't know what to say now so bye! Thanks for following our trip and yeah.

Jun 24, 2016 - From Canada to Southern California :/

OKay, I realize that it's been a week since I last updated, but we've had spotty wi fi so I couldn't do anything. Sorry. Anyways, we left off a week ago, white water rafting. From there we went to Canada, this time with a destination in mind. We stayed in a motel for one night then the next day we reentered the U.S. (after being hassled by a border guard *rolls eyes in teenager-y way*) and drove to Bellingham to go on a small whale watch. We were on a tiny boat that only held 25 passengers and it was freezing, but still fun. The next day,...

Jun 17, 2016 - Idaho to Canada

Hello! I'm aware that I haven't updated for a while and that is because our last motel had terrible wi fi. So we left of in Glacier. After leaving Glacier we drove back into Idaho, as the title of this entry implies. We soon entered Moscow, not the capital of Russia, Moss-cow, but rather a small town in Idaho, Moss-co.For those of you who don't know my mom lived three for 5 years,so we got an interesting tour of the town. Once we'd meandered around the town a bit we drove through some hills and gravel roads to get to a friends house, our...

Aug 1, 2015 - Granville Island and Beer

Day 9 – Keith The morning started off with a nice cool shower and a quick packing with Leah throwing our gear out the window to me waiting below to catch it. Once the bikes were packed we set out to find a location to eat breakfast. We didn’t have to travel far to find a great restaurant Chef Big D’s (insert dick joke here). After a very hearty breakfast and a quick fuel-up we were finally on our way down the Sea to Sky highway. A little bit of a backstory; seven years ago we were on the island with my brother planning on racing up the...

2015 BC Bike Trip

Jul 11, 2014 - Why don't we live here?

Day 2 (Keith) Day two started off much like the first. But this time with about half the distance as the day before we decided to sleep in. After a quick breakfast in our hotel and quickly packing our bikes we were off. Climbing out of Kamloops we decided to take highway 5a and avoid the traffic that notoriously plagues the Coquihalla. I have to say that was one the best decisions thus far. Starting on the top of the Thompson plateau we find ourselves dropping down into beautiful arid ranch lands with lakes to the left and rolling...

Sunday -- Today we explored south into horse country, hiking 8 miles on the Campbell Valley Park hiking/horse trails. It might be the last full walking day we would get for the rest of the trip so we made the most of it. The rest of the day was reserved for a lovely and relaxed family barbeque.

Alaska from a tent

Sep 8, 2012 - Langley

Saturday -- Although it was another sunny day we packed up the tent and said good-bye to Golden Ears Regional Park. We had not even pulled out of the spot yet when a young couple asked if they could set up their tent. The dry weather forecast was bringing lots of campers out this weekend. We found a good deal online at hotels.com for a room at the Langley Travelodge. To our surprise the room was clean, comfortable and had wi-fi. After settling in there we visited Fort Langley and walked a portion of the Fort-to-Fort trail along the Fraser...

Dec 7, 2010 - thanksgiving again, santa and disney

Sorry for not posting sooner but we have been busy. We are still in Canada and still freezing various body parts, but we are tough and can make it as long as we keep wearing all of our clothes at the same time. It finally quit snowing, after about 7 inches, but has remained cold. Reagan got to build a snowman and even Myers got bundled up to go out and play. Since Myers was just born and gotten home, Tiffany delayed Thanksgiving dinner for a week. This past Friday was the day she decided to have the meal, so Skip and Reagan spent the...

Nov 25, 2010 - thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends and family from the frozen Northwest. We are thankful to have great family and wonderful friends, good health and a little jingle jangle in our pockets. This Thanksgiving is a first for Skip and Cindy. We awakened this morning to find the ground covered with SNOW. It started snowing about 3 AM and is still snowing now at 2 PM PST. There is over 6 inches on the ground and it is cold, 24 degrees. Ryan left for snow removal work at 3:30 AM and has called and said that they can’t keep up with the snow....

Nov 24, 2010 - burrrr, it freezing....and below. now caught up

When we woke up Saturday morning the day after Myers was born and looked out the window, the ground was covered with about 3 inches of snow. Reagan could not get on her snow clothes fast enough and was ready to go outside and play. Ryan came home from the hospital to play with Reagan. Skip put on his “warm” clothes and headed out to play with them. First off she made snow angels and the snow balls to throw at Pops.. Ryan got the sled out and pulled a screaming and laughing Reagan all over the neighborhood. Skip stayed outside for a short...
