Sep 27, 2018 - End of Summer

Another summer has quickly passed and as all us ‘old folk’ know, as we age, the time seems to go so much faster. It’s been a good summer for us here in our northern camp on Mississippi Lake. For Mike it was one of getting some needed errands done, new glasses, new hearing aids, a new dental implant, and a new glucose monitor for his diabetes which attaches to his arm and can monitor his sugar levels 24/7 (no more finger pricks). Does anyone else see a 'getting old' theme here? For Michelle it was her weekly game of golf with the ladies...

Winter In Phoenix

May 11, 2018 - We're Home

Summer at our park at Mississippi Lake RV resort was delayed even though it did open on May 1. During our trip home, while we were being towed, the bus developed a couple of cracks in the outer wall just above the driver and co-pilot windows. So just as we were about to move back into the bus, we got a call that the body shop could work on it. After a week at the body shop and the kind people there did a great job, you can't tell there was a problem, they also fixed a few other problems. To do the job properly, they had an automotive window...

Sep 16, 2017 - Starting off in Ottawa

Had to make a post, so the trip starts where we did, in Ottawa! So lets get you all caught up on what we've been up to at our summer park. Let's see ... Nicole and Matt are expecting twin girls in November, our niece Shannon is expecting a boy in December and we are expecting to come back to Ottawa for both and stay til after Aaron's birthday on New Year's Eve. With the wet weather we had this summer we didn't do much: - we took a couple of painting classes at the park, - got involved with a Murder Mystery dinner at the park, where Mike...

Apr 27, 2017 - Homeward Bound

Funny thing about traveling, it's never what you expect. We left the deep south a couple of weeks ago and headed north to where the snow and rain are the norm. Yet here we were in upstate New York and it was hot enough to wear shorts and play golf - AND it's still April. The park that we stayed in was just off the highway, north of Syracuse and since it still was early in the season, we had our pick of spots. Now that the sun was out, you could see all the wet ground and it appeared that we had picked a good spot to put down our jacks. If...

Texas Again

Sep 3, 2016 - Well - Plans Do Change and Change

What good are plans if you can't change them? As an update about mom, she's happily living in a Retirement Home in Bells Corners, just outside of Ottawa, only a few minutes drive from our daughters home. Over the past winter and summer we've been visiting her every couple of days but as we get ready for our winter travels, Mom is getting nervous about us being away from her. So plans are still being made for our Texas trip, but as it stands at the moment we still have to order a few more flight connections. We're flying to Portugal for the...

Texas Ho

May 15, 2015 - May 24, settled for the summer. Well, sort of!

Well, it's May 2-4 weekend, but it is only the 15th! We've been parked at Mississippi Lake Campground for 2 weeks now and we love it. We worked hard the first week, fixed gardens, replaced the floor on the shed that had been left on the lot, built a big deck and built the gazebo. This week we enjoyed the peace and quiet (week days seem to be very quiet here, not as busy as the weekends) watched the birds, walked the park daily to see what else had been done to prepare for the summer (some docks are in and the pool opened today, Michelle is...

Winter West

Aug 26, 2013 - Getting ready to leave around November 5, 2013

Today, August 26, 2013 I cleaned the trailer, vacuumed and emptied everything. This after we went camping for a week with our two grand-babies (although they are no babies anymore!) Sophie and Alex. Now we have two months to get everything ready. Gerry wants to make some sliders in the cupboards, which will make it easier finding our groceries back 𯘄 , fix the sewer pipe holder in the back and I still have to put some epoxy on a foto collage I made to bring with us on the trip. 71 days to go..........and counting....
