Feb 19, 2012 - Day #2

Beuatiful cool clear crisp morning as we left Findlay OH and just a very pleasant drive down to Georgetown KY. Walked out after lunch and continued down I-75. We both noticed that oncoming vehicles were beginning to have snow on the grills & hoods. Soon enough we found out where it came from as we drove into the damndest blizzard of wet snow and things slowed very considerably, thank God! The scariest part is when everyone's doing 35 mph and barely seeing the vehicle ahead and some pilled up clown in a Peterbuilt passes you all at about 75...

Feb 18, 2012 - Day #1

Day #1 was pretty straight forward except the weather for the 1st hour was miserable and the border wait was awfully long (an hour and a half) and we didn't even have a bomb! Roads became bare & dry in Miichigan throuugh to Findlay under sunny skies. Only odd site was probably 1,500+ Snow Buntings along the road shoulders between Clifford & Sarnia. Some larger darker birds mixed in at a few points we assumed to be Horned Larks perhaps? - tough to get a good look while trying to keep a truck & trailer on the road in a windy snow storm. More...

Apr 16, 2011 - Home

Saturday April 16, 2011. Headed for home in some very strong winds that increased as we neared home. We were detoured south of Wingham because of burning hydro wires due to wind. Arrived home 3:45 P.M. Wonderful trip, don't regret a second of it and planning already for next year! It wouldn't be fair not to comment on some very good luck that followed us we had approx 54 days out of 58 that were warm and sunny – no bugs a week after we left Davis Mountain State Park a horrendous wildfire forced it's evacuation and burned 25 homes and 2...

Feb 6, 2011 - Preparations

This is essentially a test run. We've had beautiful weather to load the trailer and get things ready. Friday the 18th is our day to blast off, we both have meetings tomorrow. If any, or all of you have time, shoot me through a message about how this is working - can you see the picture? is the text big enough? is your connection to My Trip Journal allowing you in? I'd appreciate it. Unless you want to see if the inside of a motel room in Ft.Wayne IN is different than other rooms you've been in the next dispatch will be from DeGrey Lake...

Apr 3, 2010 - Day #47

Day #47, Friday April 2, 2010: Continued north up the 119/219 corridor, through some interesting country, still in wooded hills and coal mining areas. We noticed every small town, and there were lots of them, had at least one industry and most appeared to be thriving. Crossed the New York State line and backed into a deserted log dump for a great lunch. Turned on the GPS and noticed we could be home by 6:40 p.m. With the bit in our teeth we headed for the barn! Still some scattered snow on the hills in Ellicottville and lots of Good Friday...
