Sep 9, 2011 - Ontario

Driving along through rugged, forest area, we stopped at Wawa to visit the worlds largest Goose. Beautiful drive along Lake Huron, landscape is flatter and with more population then we have seen for awhile. Found a campsite on the Serpent River between Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury ON to spent the seventh night of our trip. The weather still wonderful, sunny with daytime highs around 25C.

Jun 14, 2011 - Espanola

I woke up in my bunk, in a parking lot in Sault Ste. Marie, to a strange rumbling sensation. After a few agonizing moments of orientation, I realized that it was the sound of a lake ship. I make my way across south-west Ontario and although I lived in Toronto for a couple of years, Beryl and I never really...

Aug 16, 2007 - Boxing day?? (by Matthew)

Today we left Sault Saint Marie, Michigan and ventured on into Canada. A very fast border patrol stop coming out of the US. We drove quite a ways today. The speed limit on most of the Canadian highway we went on was 90. 90???? You might ask. Well, kind of. The only problem? It's 90 kph rather than mph. It turns out to be about sixty miles per hour. It was somewhere around 150 miles, but there was a very long delay because of a fire right next to the road. (It wasn't a house fire. It looked like just a brush or tree fire.) There was only one...
