There is only a single dial up internet connection at this location so photos for Nipigon to here may have to be uploaded later The camp site for the rest day is pleasant enough, but there are fewer services than we are used to having. The laundry is good but there is limited (one computer in the campground office) internet access and the nearest restaurant is a 2km walk. Sault St Marie is a 30km $50 cab ride. Some of the group are riding to the Sault tonight and will spend the night in a hotel; this will give them a shorter day tomorrow...

Jul 28, 2008 - 38 Goulais River

This was a long day at 170km with hills and, later in the day, headwinds making it seem longer. Bud's cue sheets had previously warned us to carry lots of food and water in the Canadian Shield due to the lack of services. The first 80km was in Lake Superior Provincial Park with lots of hills, the associated spectacular views, and unpronounceable place names. Descending to Lake Superior brought us to sand beaches. Climbing the hills brought us great views. Gas stations and restaurants were often 20 to 40km apart with the first general store...
