Oct 16, 2011 - 18000kms and happy to be home

Well, prayers did not work for the good weather - heavy rains forced a layover for 4 hrs at a classy(?) but dry gas station. We were now focusing on getting home. So put the pedal to the medal down the interstate 90 system from St. Louis to Cleveland to Buffalo - things went well until heavy rains and winds forced us to hold up at Weedsport, NY just west of Syracuse. The final run up 81 all the way to Tim's at Brockville was very soggy to say the least. Made it home very tired and wet. Sleeping in our own bed with our own pillows never felt...

Oct 11, 2011 - junk yard

Oh my Billy is so happy - he made it to the Studebaker junk yard in Kansas. Very nice gentleman named Vern welcomed us and took a very happy Bill on tour. Bill got his prized lower right door hinge, absolutely none in capitivity. Bill was almost dancing across the 200 acres of old Stud shit!! Did not make it to Kansas City - we are staying in OTTAWA, KANSAS!! Bill just used the garbage can and shampoo to wash to poor baby - very buggy - had a hard time with so many interruptions about the trike (where are you Glenn for all the chit chat)....

Oct 10, 2011 - heading home

Hi Everyone: Bill and I are finally on the way home. A speedy great ride from Tucson to New Mexico, avoiding the dust storms and rain that was forecasted. However, WE were probably the only ALIENS in Roswell, NM last nite. So tired. On schedule, made it to Oklahoma City by 7pm, not bad after losing 2hrs to time zone hours and fierce winds. My face is so burnt!! Off to a Studebaker junk yard in the am tomorrow and then to Kansas City and hopefully the storm from Florida will stay away. I just hate these long days, so hard on this old body...

Oct 3, 2011 - quiet days

Weather is finally starting to break a little. Down to 94F so far today and a few clouds. You actually feel like doing something. Bill is off looking for some light fixtures to install in June's ramada for the party. Feels there is not enough light for old folks to see while eating and walking down steps. I can just see me taking a header into the pool!! No laughing Jim and Pat!!! Thursday: Well, Seattle just blew hard and sent some cold winds and rain down to Arizona. It is only 70F - windy and raining. Hope it clears up for Sat. We...

Sep 27, 2011 - happy birthday to the old boy!!

Good afternoon everyone!! Well, it's the old boys birthday and a beautiful day it is 95F. Took Bill out for breakfast and he is now putting his latest purchase on the trike. We are off for supper tonight. Bill got a huge surprise when he went to put on his bathing suit this afternoon - a baby turantula(sp) was hiding in them. Have not seen the old boy move that fast in years. June warned him not to hang them on the fence. Our afternoon swims are just marvelous. I keep telling Bill we need a pool. One more week and then we head for home -...

Sep 23, 2011 - Hot!! And More Hot!!

Hi everyone: Wow!! it is so hot here 97F yesterday and 100F forecasted for today. Las Vegas was a riot. So many lights and people all out there in the desert. Sure is a different way of life. Could not talk Bill into renewing our vows when we saw a few chapels. Too busy people watching to gamble. I only lost $1 - last of the big time spenders! We took Hwy93 down to Phoenix on Wed. Thankfully we left at 6:30am to try and beat the heat just a little. Saw Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Lots of desert, not much traffic which was nice, but, by the...

Sep 19, 2011 - Sat Sept 17th

8am breakfast at the Monterey cafe was an excellent way to start the day in this historic harbour/cannery row district, followed by a ride through some of the sensational houses overlooking Monterey Bay passing by the famous Pebble Beach golf course (no Tiger) then back onto Hwy 1 south through Carmel and once again the coastal hwy offered super vistas on the way to "Big Sur" as well as enough S curve switchbacks to keep the average speed to under 45mph for about 60 miles. Turned out to be good as finally at around San Mimeon we spotted...

Sep 16, 2011 - New discoveries just keep coming

Ok everyone!! I am sure you are tired of all our good times, but, here goes. Mond Sept 16 from Seaside Oregon to Lincoln City. The views just keep coming, how many times can you say WOW!!! Cool weather with so much mist it feels like it is raining. We stayed at Sailor Jack's Inn recommended by a Harley biker we met in Port Angeles. Great sea view and we ate at Mo's Chowder House (world famous) good chowder. Canon Beach just goes on forever - very artsy - went to a Quilt shop - makes Bill nervous. Newport has great artchietecure. Went to a...

Sep 11, 2011 - State of Oregon

Arrived at Jim and Pat Parks place about 3pm Monday after a wild chase at the ferry terminal in Seattle. Poor Jim he was looking for the blonde hair!! Love Seattle - such a friendly city and I found it easy to figure out where I was all the time. Pat is the perfect hostess and spoiled us with all her great meals. And of course Jim has not changed - still the man in charge (way too attached to his Iphone though). We went to Pike's Peer one afternoon and what a place - characters or what! Boy I need to get out more. Went to a Mairners Ball...

Sep 4, 2011 - Victoria, BC

Hi everyone: Got up early this morning in Duncan, BC and headed for Victoria. What a beautiful city. Enjoyed a great day at the harbor listening to a Blues Festival and watching a classic boat drive by.(I think that is what you call it). We decided to take the ferry today instead of tomorrow because of the holiday and it was a good thing. We were the last on the boat at 3pm and what a great treat, there was a WHALE doing its thing in the water off to the north of us. The captain stopped the ship and waited for it to decided which way it was...

Sep 3, 2011 - How many times do you OH WOW

Thurs, Fri & Sat: WHAT A TRIP!!! Just wait till you see the pictures of Billie-boy working in the vineyard. Hey it's not easy. The good part was the conversation with the 3 local ladies helping me defoliate the vines to allow the sun to ripen the grapes dues to a cold/rainy July. The 3 days visiting with Jake & Marg were absolutely wonderful. We even had our own delux mountain top cabin overlooking the 160 acre vineyard. The ride from Kamloops to Cache Creek, Lillooet and finally Whistler was beyond belief. Thank the HOG (Harley Owners...

Sep 1, 2011 - Celista Winery

Hi All: Here we are at Jake and Marg's Celista Estate Winery!! What a great spot overlooking Shuswap Lake (huge) and a mountain range. Our own little cabin down the hill is just perfect to watch the sunrise and sunsets, of course with a glass of Celista wine. The one I like the best is a Foch red wine. Love it. And yes, we put Bill to work taking leaves off the vines so that the grapes get more sunlight on them. He had green fingers, but found it interesting and a whole new appreciation for the process of making wine. Anyway we are off...
