May 28, 2011 - Hiking in the Rain: Woke up to a light rain today.

Woke up to a light rain today. Too bad, since everything we had planned was outside. The local community was having a Duathlon that we had considered, but considering we hadn’t done much running or riding, the rain just convinced us to pass. So it’s hiking. In the rain. Yuck. Oh, well. We went to the visitors’ center to see what the trails were and pick something. Ended up hiking out to shore of Lake Superior and along it—not a long hike, but stunning to see. May 27, 2011 - Milepost 1154/Kilometer post 1857 – Along the Lakeshore

We had a long drive today, but it was, for the most part, quite worth it. Again, we headed north, reaching the US/Canada boarder at Sault Ste Marie in about an hour. We filled up the RV ($4.0999 a gallon diesel) and then took the bridge over the Soo Locks, part of the St Lawrence seaway, here linking Lake Superior to Lake Heron. Coming off the bridge we were no longer in Michigan, or for that matter even the United States. Passing through the check point, we were driving in Canada—our first out-of-US RV experience.
