Jun 11, 2019 - Another driving day - back in USA

After yesterday and last night’s excitement, today was a little more sedate and calm (aka lots of snoozing on the bus). In order to avoid lengthy delays at the US border crossing, we were dressed, breakfasted and on our way just before 8 am... and by 8.30 had been cleared to enter America and were travelling down the highway. The land was green and flat... and the sun was shining down. Our first short half hour toilet/ coffee stop was at Rochester at 9.30. (Boy, it takes a long time to get us all off and on the bus!) Back on the road before...

Jun 11, 2019 - Night time spectacular

Well... we made it to the light display at the Falls. It was a little windy but there was absolutely no rain! The walk down then UP the hill was well worth the time and effort! I can’t believe that only 4 of us from a tour group of 48 took the time to do it! So, so glad that I did!

Jun 10, 2019 - A bloody beaut, bonza day!!!

I awoke this morning, at about 6.15, to a most unusual and unwanted sight - the sky was leaking! This wasn’t a good sign for the day to come. A day that involved Niagara Falls and a helicopter flight. Would the weather improve? Time would tell. Not to keep you in suspense for too long..... everything turned out bloody beautifully!! Although I didn’t see the sun at all today, the rain stopped for me to go on the helicopter ride but again I have jumped the gun and told you the ending before the beginning and middle! We boarded our bus at...

Jul 19, 2018 - Day 51 - Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

Woke up this morning to the coldest inside temp since we left Tucson. 66 degrees. Downright chilly for the morning dog walk. We head for Niagara on the Lake and it is just fantastic. Small town right on Lake Ontario. Could not have been a more perfect day. We're amazed at the number of wineries we see on the drive. The town itself is incredibly picturesque. Quaint old buildings and shops. We spend about an hour at the park at the lake and then find an Irish pub for lunch. After lunch, we hit a local winery and take their tour, which is...

Summer 2018 Big Trip

Jul 18, 2018 - Day 50 - Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

After experiencing the crowds and traffic yesterday, we decide to try the park shuttle to get to the Falls today. It's a great move. The shuttle driver gives us a short history tour and takes us to his favorite scenic overpass before dropping us off at the main tourist area. It's the first time either one of us has been up close to the Falls, and it's an awesome experience. Just spectacular. We spend about an hour walking along the bank and every viewpoint is better than the previous. We decide to have lunch right there and get the last...

Summer 2018 Big Trip

Jul 17, 2018 - Day 49 - Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

Take the dog on an early, long walk around this massive RV park. There's not just RVs here, but a lot of permanent manufactured homes as well. Must be 2nd homes fora lot of well healed folks. Since we're a little concerned about how hard it will be to get across the border into Canada, we roll out a little after 9. Interstate all the way to the border, and it's in no better shape than yesterday. Dog is miserable the entire way. We fill up on gas just before hitting the border; thinking gas in Canada must be more expensive. We roll up to the...

Oct 25, 2017 - My First Trip To Canada

I came to Ontario for a work trip. I do not have much time to see or experience many things, also their list does sound tempting. To be honest, it is so cold compared to home, I don't feel like doing much. I was checking my weather app from home that I downloaded from Google Play, but I was still not prepared for the cold yet. But I have to admit, it is a beautiful country! The opinions expressed are true, mine and I have not been compensated for them.

Aug 30, 2017 - Last day in Niagara

Breakfast in hotel dining room and left bags at hotel reception. Called Greyhound to book an evening bus from Niagara Ontario to Buffalo bus station and from there I would have to make it to the Buffalo Depew AMTRAK station (quite separate and quite a distance from the Buffalo bus station. Caught the WEGO bus to the Visitor Centre and walked along the path beside the falls to the Hornblower terminal. Donned another ponch and boarded the Hornblower boat for the half hour trip to the Falls. Travelled past the American Falls and into a cloud...

Eclipse Chasing 2017

Aug 29, 2017 - Exploring Niagara

Ate half of last night's pizza for breakfast and bought a Niagara Adventure Pass (includes 4 attractions and free bus). Walked to the nearby WEGO bus stop and caught the bus to the Table Rock bus Terminal and Visitor Centre. The Adventure Pass includes IMAX, Hornblower Cruise, White Water Walk and Behind the Falls. First went to Behind the Falls, a decent by elevator to about 125 feet then a series of tunnels behnd Horseshoe Falls. One tunnel leads outside to a viewing platform right next to a torrent of water coming down from above. The...

Eclipse Chasing 2017

Aug 28, 2017 - On to Niagara

Breakfast at the B&B then dropped off at Lancaster Station by Denise (B&B owner) with some extra snacks provided by Denise. Uneventful trip from Lancaster to New York waited a couple of hours then boarded AMTRAK train about 1pm for 9 hour journey to Niagara. Once out of the city the first several hours of the journey followed the shores of a lake/estuary with interesting bridges, magnificent houses on the opposite shore, marinas, ships and lush forests and grassland, and passed through many small rural towns. The landscape finally gave way...

Eclipse Chasing 2017

Aug 24, 2017 - O Canada, eh?

The pups first trip outside the U.S.A. The place of the oldest known photograph of Canada. "The prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world", according to Winston Churchill in 1943. The largest crossing point of the Underground Railroad (where slaves fled from the U.S.). The first major hydroelectric power plant in the world thanks to Nikola Tesla. Where am I? Niagara Falls, of course. Stunning. Amazing. Breathtaking. Misty. How do you appropriately describe one of the seven natural wonders of the world? The massive waterfalls must be...

Jun 22, 2017 - Definitely had us an Adventure!

WE'RE HERE ... OUR GOAL DESTINATION!! Soooo our day began with excitement .. we started out early having decided to take the advice of many and travel to the Canadian side rather than the American side of the falls via the Peace Bridge. It really wasn't a bad drive and the sections that ran along Lake Erie were actually very scenic. Coming into Buffalo we were surprised at all the industry .. not clean industry either. Looking to one side (I guess the West) driving over the Peace Bridge was Lake Erie and windmills, very pretty. Looking to...
