Jun 17, 2016 - Niagara on the Lake

We took a drive up North to Niagara on the Lake. Very quaint little tourist style town, lots of people around and very busy. We grabbed lunch at Subway and went to a community park, We were near some city workers having their own lunch. This brought back a lot of memories having lunch in Prince George parks. Also there, was a school volley ball tournament of some sort, free entertainment. We found a little park near the golf course that over looks the lake and Toronto in the distance. there is an amazing amount of Wineries on this trip, 36...

Jul 3, 2014 - Headed to the winery

Off to the winery via the scenic route, and a few unintended detours in the rain..... We finally made it to the Jackson-Triggs winery for our tour. Stuart - aka Stu - was our guide and he was a good sport even though we did our best to rattle him. We learned about planting grapes North to South to maximize sun exposure. We discussed oak barrels and wine with legs. We sniffed, swirled and held glasses to the light. We sampled, and sampled some more, and then we ate cheese and crackers. All in all, worth riding through the rain to sip some...

Apr 25, 2014 - April 24 - Day 21

Eh?! Canada is good except that whole cell phone roaming thing...can't wait to see that bill! We took off for Niagara-on-the-Lake bright and early. We switched the car over to metric and the temp was showing 0 degrees. At first it's a little startling until you realize it's really 32 degrees F. Still cold!! I have come to the realization that posted speed limits in Canada are only a suggestion. We were being good and not going more than 12 km over the limit. People were flying past us. We saw one sign showing the price for speeding. 20km...

On our way back to Lockport we stopped at Niagara On The Lake, a quaint town, with shops, parks and carriage rides. We walked through the Prince of Wales hotel, a gorgeous hotel. We had some Cow's Ice Cream, the best in Canada. Cow's Ice Cream is made in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, we visited the factory last year when we were in PEI.

Jul 22, 2011 - Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries & Fort George

Sep 8, 2010 - Windy lake and town on the lake

Today we headed along the shores of Lake Ontario to Niagara on the Lake. Just along from the campground we found a great viewpoint of the lake and had a quick stroll. We then made our way to Port Dalhousie. The wind was extremely strong but we enjoyed a quick walk along the harbour to the lake. Port Dalhousie a popular summer vacation area was virtually closed but we did find the good old faithful-Tim Horton’s for a hot drink! We the continued along the lake to Niagara-on-the-Lake and enjoyed a stroll around the shops in the sunshine and...

Sep 24, 2009 - Niagara-on-the Lake: le silence

Jun 10, 2009 - Niagara on the Lake

Drove down the QEW to Niagara on the Lake. A very pretty town. Drove past all the vines for the local wine, cherry trees and other fruits which the make up presurves that they sell locally in the shops. Everyone very freindly. Flynn played in the park.

Jun 28, 2008 - Niagra

Niagara on the Lake Together again! We met up with Tony and George in Avery Ohio and after a lazy day of catching up on each other’s families we headed out for Canada where we will camp just outside of Niagara. We were there once before to see the falls and on a drive one afternoon we discovered a little town called Niagara on the Lake. It was such a gorgeous little town that we said we’d really like to come back some day and now someday is here! We woke up on our first morning to MORE rain! We have had so much rain in the past few...
