Jun 12, 2016 - In Oshawa

We have seen all the friends and relatives and now we will start sight seeing. Frank and Mary are doing pretty good for being 93 and 94. We had a really hot day here yesterday and Friday night we had awesome thunder and lightning. Way more exciting than the storms on the west coast. This city has grown so much it is all linked together with Toronto and where there used to be farms, now all subdivisions. Just like around Abbotsford.FRank is in the camper having a coffee and I am at the Info center collecting some pamphlets and coupons for...

Jul 26, 2009 - Darlington Provincial Park - Oshawa, Ontario - July 25 - 26, 2009

July 25 - 26, 2009 We chose to go to Darlington on our first camping trip in four years for one main reason. It's close to our home. We live in downtown Toronto and it's only about a 40-minute drive away. Joe works nights and I work days which leaves us with very short camping weekends. We only had the one night so didn't want to spend half the day driving. We prefer Provincial (and State) Parks over private campgrounds as we like the privacy and natural environment these usually provide. Camping to us isn't being 3 feet from your...

Apr 12, 2007 - FAM Trip to Jamaica

On April 29 I'll be leaving for a FAM to Jamaica, hosted by the Jamaica Tourist Board. When I'm down there I will try to do updates to this site to let everyone know how it's going. I've added the current itinerary to the itinerary page, but this may change before we go.

Aug 10, 2006 - Day 48 Alliston to Darlington

Day 48 Alliston to Darlington 124.9 km @ 23.7kph for 5 hours 16 min total time 6 hr 30 min planned dist 130 km Another lovely day - about 26 degrees - we have been blessed with incredible weather ... the sun has followed us the complete trip. Today was another day of "go Left & go Right" - much like a car rally - following the instructions and figuring out some of the clues - ("road unmarked but just left of the big church") - actually good instructions - very few get lost for very long - staying off main roads ( heavier traffic) and...

Jul 8, 2006 - Happy Birthday Peter!

It has been a week of visiting Dave's family. We started off in Brampton at Lisa, Ian, Bayley, Cassandra and Allanah's. Kayley had her first sleepover - she stayed in a bunk bed with Cassandra. The 1st night went well, the second started fine but the wake up babble at 6am wasn't fun for anyone in the house (or for those of us that had to put up with cranky pants all day Monday!). Mom and Dad enjoyed having one less body in the bedroom of the motorhome. It was a great weekend - we enjoyed the swimming pool and bike rides. Thank you Ian and...

Aug 11, 2005 - Scarborough to Darlington - 80km

Last night was a much better sleep, partially attributable to the moderating effect of the rainfall on the house's temperature. We rose with civility at 8am, arranging our gear, eating breakfast in a kitchen and thanking the Hewitts a million for their hospitality. We finally shoved off into the renewed sunshine at around 10:30am. What's the rush? Our route for the day would be less than 100km. Hewi helped us devised a fabulous route...flat if not downhill most of the way. The bikes, freshly tuned up, felt like new. Throw in a couple pairs...
