Apr 17, 2017 - Home safe

Hard to believe another winter is gone. My dad always said" The older I get, the faster the time goes." I am starting to understand his thinking. It is great to be home to see the kids and the grandkids. Another seldom seen feat is the Leafs in the playoffs. Time to get my taxes done and get ready for another farm season. It's great to be home!

Mar 2, 2017 - Back in Richmond Hill to visit new grand babies

We are presently back in Richmond Hill visiting our grand children. Braydon, Jason and Jackie's new baby is almost four months old. Boy has he changed since we last saw him. Diane and Keegan's little girl Rowan, who was born December 10 has also grown unbelievable since we left. They are little darlings! Peter and Amanda had their baby arrive on February 26. Madelyn Anne Muriel, weighing in at 9 pounds 6 ounces, is a big girl. Glenna and I got to the hospital shortly before her birth. What an exciting time. We are in Ontario from February...

We started for home this morning. We got back into Canada, south of Montreal at lunch time. We decided to continue on home so that we could visit with Diane and Keegan before they head back to Manitoba on the weekend. We arrived home to a delicious dinner prepared by Keegan and Diane. We are having a nice visit before they head west. Back to work, until next time.

Yesterday we drove north on I-79 to Erie, and then east on I-90 to Buffalo. After a pleasant morning drive, we crossed into Canada at Fort Erie. This is our favourite point of entry, and was flawless agin yesterday . We arrived home mid-afternoon and emptied the trailer and put it back in bed until next time. We had a great trip to the Smoky Mountains and the Carriage rally. Time to get back to work until next time.

Jul 6, 2014 - Post script

As I reflect back on the Wild Hogs in Canada, eh! 2014 reunion, the things that come to mind are these: Great times with great firends, trying new things, visiting new places, eating great food, drinking great wine and living the good life every day that we are blessed from above here on God's green earth. Thanks to our hosts, Pat and Lorenzo for opening their home and their hearts to us, and to each of my fellow Hogs for making this another memorable trip. This Post Script though is primarily about two things - the songs we sang and the...

Jul 4, 2014 - Happy 4th of July!

Happy Birthday Murica! Our days of riding were over and the guys took the bikes back to Mackie HD this morning. Today was a "chill" day as we had been cramming as much fun into the last three days as we possibly could and we needed a little down time to just catch up and reflect on the fun. Pat and Lorenzo did a FABULOUS job of showing us around and took us on some great rides. The weather was a bit uncooperative at times, but we got through it and moved on. Today was also a planning day for our next reunion - Sturgis, South Dakota in 2015...

Jul 22, 2013 - Home again

We drove home from Port Huron this morning. It was a nice easy drive and we arrived home in time for lunch. This afternoon I climbed into the combine and we tried the wheat. It was 20 % moisture, so not quite ready. It will be ready later this week. We drove just over 4800 miles on our 25 day trip. That is an average of about 200 miles per day. We saw some amazing country and visited with some great friends and missed a few because of timing conflicts. We really enjoyed Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. It was a great trip.

Jan 25, 2013 - Still waiting

We are still sitting in the cold waiting for our truck to get repaired. It has been in the shop for four weeks. We are disappointed by the speed of our repair. The trailer on the other hand is looking good. I have a nice stand for the basement TV, and have tested the connections in the living room and bedroom as well. I still want to buy a satellite receiver for the basement, but other than that I think we are ready to go. I have also been looking at buying a new unlocked cell phone that I can use on both sides of the border. I am tired of...

Jan 20, 2013 - Getting ready

I think we are finally getting ready to move south. It has been quite a month. Our new trailer which was supposed to arrive in early December, finally arrived last week. We had to send it back to the dealer to have some changes made to our rooftop satellite, and a surge protector installed. Our trailer arrived back at the farm yesterday, and is hopefully now ready to go. Our truck is another story. After being hit on my way home from the farm in late December, my truck has been at the auto body shop. They finally got all the parts necessary...

We had a wonderful holiday. Today we traveled north through Vermont, around the north side of Lake Champlain into the state of New York. We crossed into Canada at Cornwall, after about a forty-five minute delay at the border. We hurried home across Hwy 401 to Toronto and up Hwy 404. It was a beautiful day for a drive. We put the trailer away until next time. Back to work tomorrow.

Dec 25, 2011 - First Entry!

Hiya! So this is my very first live journal entry. Yes, I've officially jumped on the bandwagon. Well, is it a bandwagon if it's not in the front of everyone's minds? It used to be. About 3 or 4 years ago everyone had a live journal. I don't know about that now. But oh well. Hopefully I'll be updating this quite regularly. I probably should explain why I'm starting a journal/blog in the first place. Now back in June, I got accepted into this program called Katimavik. I pass all medical exams, completed my french evaluation (boy, that's was...

Mar 11, 2011 - Back in Ontario

We arrived home safely last night. I have included some pictures of our flight home. We had a nice trip. I took the pictures while watching two movies, True Grit and Unstoppable. I enjoyed both movies. Glenna nervously watched the flight tracking map all the way home. I'm back to work for a couple of weeks.
