Jan 15, 2014 - Pune, India

Flight to India.... Hi from Ananda Pune. Now I am using my new phone with a hot spot since no internet here. I flew from JoBurg on Jan. 15 to Mumbai and to Pune on the 16th. Went out to the Ananda community that day, which is near village called Watunde. Have been here since except for a short trip to Lavasa, a resort place for rich Mumbai folks, on Monday 20th where I got a massage and steam bath! :) At Ananda I sleep in a tent and work in the garden when not doing yogi things.

Mar 14, 2012 - India

People that live in India are very religious and family is very important to them. When they get a house they use it for rituals and other things that have to do with their religion. Urban families most of the time live in apartments and nicer homes with smaller families. They usually have running water and electricity. Rural families usually build their own homes and live with extended family. They usually have to go get their own water and do not have electricity. There is a lot of poverty in India. They are big into agricultural and...

Dec 19, 2010 - Pune

Feb 5, 2010 - In the middle of india

Not sure where my last post went to - it seems to be blank! Have been in Indai for 2 weeks+ now and time has flown by. Have had a week at the guide centre in Pune which was hit by the sickness bug someone brought with them form the UK, and sadly I missed the day at the orphanage because of it. However, we had a good time there and it was an excellent intro to the madness that is India. I LOVE IT!!! We are now travelling around the north central area starting in Delhi. We had a very full day's sightseeing there, not helped by the manic...

Mar 21, 2009 - Drive through Maharashtra en Route to Goa

It is around 11 p.m., and I am writing today's entry by headlamp while sitting in a chair in the farmer's field where we are camping somewhere in the southern part of the Indian state of Maharashtra. For a day spent entirely in transit, I surprisingly have a lot to write about. Today began my tour of South India with Dragoman Overland Tours. I am participating in what is known as an "overland tour." These trips are more participatory in nature than standard guided tours, with participants required to do chores and other tasks en route. Our...

Mar 8, 2009 - We made it to Pune

Namaste folks, Please accept my apologies. It's been a worldwind of fabulous adventure! Haven't had a lot of time to blog. We arrived in Pune on Monday via commuter plane from Jaipur/Delhi. Very interesting experience. Matt and Raymond are in Pune as ex-pats. Raymond is on a long-term project with HSBC but they are from NYC. It's been great staying with them in their fabulous apartment. And they truly have been optimally hospitable. It's nice to be out of a hotel. -tw-

MY India 2009

Dec 8, 2008 - Finally in Pune

Feb 21, 2008 - Bombay to Pune

After my two week Bombay orientation to India (rather long but enjoyable), I headed Southwest towards Pune, on the advise of someone that I should visit the Osho Meditation Centre located in this city. This was the first time being on my own since leaving Vancouver, and admittedly, I felt lonely as I realized that I am far from home and have only my own company moving forward. Over my four day stay in Pune, I faced this with a feeling of both uneasyness and excitement. During this time, I had a chance to reflect on the events and...
