Friday, June 8 We got an early (for us) start from Westport for our long drive up to the tip of Ireland in Greencastle. It was another bright sunny day, and we had good roads. We stopped close to Sligo to visit the Carrowmore prehistoric burial sights. These were constructed 5000-3500 years BC and feature stone circles of various sizes, including one extremely large one with a dolmen in the center. Jul 10, 2013 - Puffins and guillimots

Wed 10th I saw puffins and guillimots! Many, in fact! Flying just above the ocean or swimming and diving, as the ferry we were on skimmed by. It left Doolin for the Aran Islands, just off shore. The puffins and guillimots nest on the Cliffs of Moher, just to the west. We also saw a porpoise that regularly hangs out at the harbor. It played with some swimmers and then followed the ferry.
