The reason for our stay in Enniskerry was to visit the finest gardens in Ireland at Powerscourt House and Gardens. Luckily, there was a very fine Marriott hotel located within walking distance of Powerscourt. Jun 17, 2012 - Dublin to Kilkenny

On Friday, the heavy rain and wind continued. My 6-year-old raincoat was soaking wet in minutes, despite my Scotchguarding efforts last week. We headed for a store, where I found a jacket on sale for 30 Euro, or about $38. It's been well worth it. We rode the train into Dublin from Dun Laoghaire. Our first stop was Trinity College, which is home to the Book of Kells. This copy of the four Gospels, prepared by monks in the Dark Ages, is beautifully illustrated and written. Jul 5, 2009 - Day 3 - Powerscourt House

We started the day with another big breakfast and caught a taxi to pick up our rental car. After quite a long wait, we were on the road. Our original intention was to head north to Newgrange and Knowth but we decided to head to Powerscourt House and Gardens, in Enniskerry, instead. As luck would have it, it started to rain as soon as we left the city limits. The drive to Powerscourt was pretty easy but it was pouring by the time we got there.
