Mar 19, 2007 - Day 187 - Headin' up to Kaiteriteri Beach

First thing we went to the seal colony at Cape Foulwind. There were tens/hundreds of seal lounging around on the rocks beneath us. All very cute. After the seal-viewing we continued up toward the North of the island in order to see a bit of Kaiteriteri in the daylight and get some sand between our toes - we are on holiday after all. Having checked ourselves into the beachfront Flashpackers, we headed to the beach to plan our attack on the Abel Tasman track the following day. Mar 1, 2007 - Day 169 - Trekking the Abel Tasman

In preparation for some tricky walking once we went further South we decided we wanted to push ourseleves on this walk. We took an early water taxi up the coast from Marahau to Anchorage. From there we walked North up some stunning coastline eventually finishing at the Awaroa lodge for a late lunch. Due to the tides we ended up having to take several of the longer high tide routes, but we managed to walk around 25km up and down the breathtaking (in both senses) hills before collecting our water taxi back to base.
