Jun 4, 2007 - Waipu Cove and home

Got up and had breakfast and tried to pack up but it kept raining on and off. Eventually we went to the Waipu Caves which was quite a drive away and quite scary since our torches were not the best and we were a bit ill-prepared clothing-wise. However it was a nice drive and a good experience nontheless. Had to pack the small awning away wet and came home with no dramas down through the back way via Helensville. Backed in in in one hit!

It was quite hot during the night due to central heating for me and “power surges” for Sue. Got up at about 9am, showered and went into Waipu for the Saturday Markets. Quite interesting; we bought a couple of things and a few books. We came back to the caravan and breakfast of home-cured bacon, fried mash and eggs at 12 noon. Wandered along the beach (in drizzle at times) then came back and drove to Mangawhai. Checked out Jack Boyd Drive then the rest of the township before dropping in on Jenni-May. Got back around 5.30pm and started tea....

Jun 1, 2007 - Waipu Cove (Queen's Birthday Weekend)

We left at 2.15pm and headed for Waipu Cove. We had booked on-line the night before and met no traffic problems. Got here and were set up by 5.15pm, including the old/new canvas awning from camping days! Lamb chops, mash, snow beans and cauli for dinner. Gorgeous. Both quite tired so went to bed at 9.30pm.
