Mar 24, 2016 - When did we get a bunny?

We started off Holy Thursday pretty early because we had shopping to do, tractors to drive, and church to go to in the evening. We headed out to the town of Bychawa to go to the targ and get a LOT of groceries for the Easter weekend. I brought my own money & shopping bag with me this time because my jeans no longer fit and I can't keep eating all this heavy food every day. I love my family, but they do not understand that I can't eat white bread, white buns, donuts, perogies, kopytka, bigos, sausage, - every day, for EVERY meal. So that's...

Mar 13, 2016 - Family time back in Strzyżewice

I've been back in Strzyżewice for the past few days and spending time with more family nearby who have come to visit. I've also been forced to indulge in żurek (white borscht with sausage), hałwa (no idea how to describe it except for fatty & DELICIOUS), and drinking lots and lots of vodka & wisniowka (sweet cherry liqueur). Their sons, Kamil & Michał, presented me with chocolates and big hugs. I was so surprised!! I didn't even know about this day! I felt so special! All day, Tereska and I didn't have to do a THING!!!! The boys made us breakfast, did all the dishes, cleaned up the house, fed all the animals, and for dinner...

Mar 4, 2016 - "She's taking photos?! She must be an auditor!"

First off: I can't enter in "Strzyżewice" for my precise location because its so small of a village outside of Lublin that it's not recognized - plus there are two other Strzyzewice's in Poland (don't ask me why...) so for ease of map location only, I'm using Nowa Bystrzyca which is a town about 5km from here. It's my first morning waking up in Poland. Ciocia and I got up early to head to the 'Targ' that is set up in this tiny village once a week. 'Targi' are like a cross between a farmer's market & an open-air flea market. Vendors from...
