Today we were off to the stunning Drakensberg. The table top peaks of Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Range, which form the boundary between South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho, offer some of the most amazing landscapes. Granted World Heritage status in November 2000 the 243,000 hectare reserve is so called as they appear to be "Dragon Mountains". We were heading for Central Berg and the site of Giants Castle Peak (3,312m), the Monks Cowl (3,234m) and Champagne Castle (3,377m) it certainly has dramatic scenery and was surprisingly green.
