Jan 16, 2012 - Day 1 on the island

Today was our first day here on the island of Koh Phangan and its really nice here. We didn't really explore today. Just laid around and got some emails and updates done. I woke up feeling like something different was coming my way and sure enough I got an email from someone I had lost contact with over the last 4 months. It was an confusing surprise but I think things will head in the right direction and its changing my mood. Ella and I wend to the pool for a bit and played around while Roslyn and Talya got some research done for our next...

Jan 15, 2012 - journey to Koh Pagnang

So just arrived in Koh Pagnang and even though it is dark it is a beautiful place. The people here are so far friendly and welcoming. From Krabi we took a taxi to a van to a bus to a ferry and another taxi to the resort. A lot of traveling but I am enjoying myself. On Krabi I saw my first ever firefly and got to see it close up. Such an amazing site. The beaches there were also very beautiful and the locals were incredibly sweet but the vibe from the island wasn't quite right for me. One thing I really loved about Krabi was that around...

Dec 18, 2011 - Amazing Thailand

The previous night we'd arranged a tuk-tuk to pick us each up from our hotels (my Kiwi friend and I) so we could venture out to the outskirts of Angkor and see some of less tourist-visited temples, or so we thought. After crawling (or rolling) out of bed, I got some breakfast and made it to my guesthouse lobby just as my tuk-tuk driver pulled up. We picked up Mark and made our way towards Angkor. The first temple we visited which was quite aways outside of the main area had a parking lot filled with buses, something we had not expected....

Dec 18, 2011 - Day 2 in Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan Day 2 Today was the day that Ross and I decided to try our luck with renting a scooter to get around the island. Most travel books will state that renting a motorbike can be risky for several reasons. Apparently it is very common to have tourists injured while navigating the windy roads that there are special ambulances that drive them all day long looking to help out. It is also common to be ripped off from renting the bikes. It is only 200 Baht for a day, and you pay for your own gas. I was smart and took several pictures of...

Dec 15, 2011 - Travelling to Koh Phangan

Travelling to Koh Pha Ngan In the morning we arose and waited outside our lovely, temple-like hotel for the van to come take us to the pier. The day was sunny and hot, and everywhere we looked beautiful flowers were blooming, butterflies of a million varieties were fluttering around, and lizards bathed in the sun. I saw giant red dragonflies, huge flying beetles, giant millipedes, stray dogs and cats, big bullfrogs, koi, goldfish, guppies, cichlids, mollies, and a dozen different types of orchids, lotuses and other tropical flowers, and all...

Dec 11, 2011 - Koh Phangan

Hi Everyone, We arrived in Koh Phangan 2 nights ago and have now checked into a tree house that Petrina has fallen in love with. Great sea views but weather a bit cloudy and some heavy rain but we managed a few beach hours today. We avoided the infamous full-moon party last night as we are saving ourselves for Xmas and NY. We hired a scooter yesterday and explored some of the west and north coast, there are some beautiful beaches here we are so lucky. They sell "gasoline" here in whisky bottles. Elderly ladies come towards you with a...

Asian Adventure 2011

Apr 7, 2011 - Koh Phangan - 20/12/10 - 02/01/11

So I've left the sub continent and have now reached the sunny climbs of Thailand. After the experiences of India and Nepal, Thailand was a breeze. Getting around on public transport was easy peazy. Although in true Asian tradition nothing ran on time. As long as I started travelling early in the morning, I got to my destination eventually, i just works out in the end, I don't know how, but it deos. So after spending one night in Bangkok, I jumped on the night bus down to Koh Phangang, which is the renound party Island in the Gulf of...

Jan 9, 2011 - Last day in Thailand

We made the most of our day by getting up and out early. I managed to have porridge for breakfast with no disasters, this is great to improve my energy. I feel a little irrated today which could be to do with me needing energy from carbs. I haven't had any in a week now and am anxious to eat them today. The sun is shining so nice today, only a few clouds in the sky so we traveled outside of Haadrin to Bantai where they have a nice beach. We hired a moped and scooted over the hills to the beach. We landed on a lovely bit of sand which had...

Jan 8, 2011 - Back to Haad rin

I woke up at 7am and immediately grabbed my bag and left Zorba house. I didn't really feel at home there and missed the girls, although I didn't have nightmares which was a first since my arrivals. I was mainly dreaming I was at a party due to the music which was playing all night. All the girls were up in my old dorm and I got ready down there making use of the nice clean facilities and warm shower. I didn't manage to say my goodbyes too all as when I went in the shower a couple of them left to check out the party which was still going...

Jan 7, 2011 - Break fast

Ahhh the day has come where I can eat food. The Australian girl in my dorm, Nicki, also has her last day so we are going to enjoy our first meal together. I only had to drink a Psyllium shake this morning, but this too is rather disgusting. I held my nose and downed the drink. The next task was my final colonic. This was the easiest of all. I’m pretty clear now so it didn’t take me long and the solution was wheatgrass and water instead of coffee, cider vinegar and water. I had to pack up my bag after this as it costs 800BHT {16GBP} to sleep...

Jan 6, 2011 - Final fast day 3

Feeling much better this morning now it’s my last day. I woke up early naturally; we’ve all been having nightmares which are possibly the toxins seeping out and our bodies begging us for food. In the morning I relaxed in the detox centre, its comforting speaking with other fasters it makes the process much easier as everyone is in the same boat. I had a nice yoga session and it was raining outside which made it more calming, although it was difficult to hear the teacher over the thunderous downpours. It was raining more heavily after Yoga...

Jan 5, 2011 - Fast day 2

I Didn’t feel great when I woke up, mainly due to cold rather than the lack of food. Drank my clay shake and went back to sleep for a few hours. When I woke, spent the morning hanging around the detox centre, drinking tea and chatting to other fasters. At 2pm I decided to go for group acupuncture at the Tea temple. It was a very interesting, pleasant experience. It started to heavily rain but it felt cosy in the Tea temple. The centre is set in the jungle and is void of any noise apart from wildlife. The square room is made of polished dark...
