Jan 4, 2011 - Fast day 1

Morning clay shake at 7am. It was not nice but not unpleasant. It didn’t taste bad but the thick consistency was hard to drink as soon as you wake up. I allowed the shake to digest then it was herbal pills and tea time. I took this in the detox centre and relaxed there until yoga at 10.30. Meanwhile I had another clay shake. The yoga class was really relaxing, not to strenuous and simple to follow. I had to follow the class with more herbal pills and a coconut juice to feel more normal. By this time the food cravings had begun so I had a...

Jan 3, 2011 - Cleansing day

I didn’t sleep to great last night as was a little hot in the dorm. They have fan and air con but I didn’t want to put it on just in case the others got cold. Eventually I drifted off but woke up early as the others woke at 6.45 for their first shake of the day. I managed to doze off again and started the day with a big bowl of porridge and herbal tea. I spent the day drifting from one activity to the next. From the tea house, to the restaurant, to the beach, to the dorm and to the spa. I had a luscious Pineapple body scrub and deep tissue...

Jan 2, 2011 - Arrival at The Santuary

After a decent night sleep I decided to go on my own adventure for a couple of days and visit the beach of Haad Tien on Koh Phangan. Haad Thien is home to 'The Sanctuary' a notorious spa and detox centre in Thailand. I left Joss around midday and I was very sad to say goodbye. The last time I came to Phangan I heard about 'The Sanctuary' and said I'd come back one day and go, so I have. Unfortunately, it's over Joss' budget so I have to go without him. Mel drove me most of the way as Taxi's are expensive from Coral bay. It was hard keeping...

Jan 1, 2011 - Hello 2011

We celebrated the NY with true Koh Phangan style. The day was spent relaxing around Haad Khom, we visited 7 Eleven to buy Joss a T-shirt and headed back to our bungalow to start painting. As we were getting ready a storm was blowing outside. As we are on the cliff front it sounded much worse than it was but it was pretty bad. Our roof started leaking slightly but luckily the heavy showers were over after a few moments. Joss painted a logo on his new T-shirt with our Fluorescent paints and I painted a flower, a Phoenix and a series of...

Dec 30, 2010 - Koh Phangan

Phangan's roads have improved since I was last hear so decided to hire a moped as we are far away from civilisation. It is overcast and windy today so sunbathing is out of the question. It took most of the morning to get out as Mel went to give Joss a lift to town for the bike, but he had a flat tyre. When Joss arrived back it was getting late so we headed to Haad rin to check it out and do some shopping. The drive takes around 40 minutes to Haad rin and the journey was unpleasant as we could only get a manual bike. The bike wasn't very...

May 5, 2010 - koh pha-ngan

hey all, sorry, it's been a few days, just not been able to get near an internet connection! not got much time so i'll keep it brief. Met a couple on tuesday who invited me to go out with them to watch a lady boy show (truly the weirdest thing ive ever seen!. came away from it with only sad thoughts about what leads people to that life, but also about the sick bastards who pay for sex with them after the show (they openly say on stage that you can have whoever you want. To be honest the whole thai party life, with prostitutes and lady boys...

Apr 2, 2010 - Elephant Trekking

I've only just put one photo up on here for now because the internet is really slow on this computer! We went elephant trekking yesterday and it was really worth doing. We got picked up from the hotel and taken to the waterfalls in the middle of Koh Samui and then got on this huge elephant and it was a bit unsteady at first with no seat belt! But it was fine when we got into it. The waterflls were really nice and the jungle was lovely too, By the end we were both sitting sitting on the elephants head - i dont think the health and safety...

Mar 19, 2010 - Day 51 cont - 57

Day 51 13th March - After pancakes we went on a mission to find a book store. Walked down what felt like a very very long road but was probably only 200m or so. We're not used to walking. Found one and bought a v.interesting book about serial killers. We then spotted a kebab BBQ that was due to start at 6. It was 4 but we really couldn't be bothered to walk aaall the way back to our room and then aaall the way back so we just sat on the beach for a while. Day 52 - After deciding to extend our Koh Tao stay from 4 nights to 6 cos we enjoyed...

Mar 4, 2010 - Thailand - same same but different

Hi everyone!! Right - apologies this is very delayed and will also be brief! I wrote a big one out in Bangkok about a week ago and it all got lost. Now we're in Koh Phangan and the internet is sooo expensive! So a short run down for you of what we've been up to! I think we were in Luang Prabang the last time I wrote which is a really lovely town in Laos. We did quite a bit of cycling, saw an amazing waterfall and did some volunteer work helping adults with their English. We then went further north to Luang Nam Tha where we had hoped to do...

Feb 14, 2010 - Happy Valentines Day, Lunar New Year, Black Moon and Wedding!

Ok, so it has been awhile since I last updated so I am going to break it into three separate entries. It will make it easier to read, plot locations on the map and make things easier for me to sort out. Thursday, Feb. 11 & Friday, Feb 12, 2010 Around lunch time on Thursday we left for the Da Nang Airport for the first of our 2 flights. We had a bit of a layover in the Ho Chi Minh Airport where we played around with the Duty Free samples, ate ridiculously overpriced food and played an extended game of Mozel Tov before finally setting off to...
