Jan 19, 2010 - Koh Pha Ngan

19 January. The boat trip from Koh Samui to Hat Rin on island of Koh Pha Ngan, took 50 minutes. The Hat Rin village are rather small and with small, narrow and winding roads. Nowadays the whole incomes come from tourism and especially from backpackers. By the time when Koh Samui became more and more upmarket, then the more low budget and backpacked people moved more and more to the neighbouring island of Koh Pha Ngan. Hat Rin or Haadrin are also very famous or infamous (depending of who you talk to) for the full moon parties, which take...

Jan 18, 2010 - Thailand

Well, MS and I have been traveling for 12 months now and we always get asked “Aren't you sick of traveling by now?” And, we always answer, sure, there are some things that frustrate us but over all we are still enjoying ourselves and having a great time. So, rather than bore you with details of the pristine beaches and beauitful oceans of Thailand while you slave away at work or at home, I thought I would tell you some of the things that are not great about traveling for extended periods: 1. Living out of a Backpack Any long term traveler...

Jan 1, 2010 - Hello 2011

We celebrated the NY with true Koh Phangan style. The day was spent relaxing around Haad Khom, we visited 7 Eleven to buy Joss a T-shirt and headed back to our bungalow to start painting. As we were getting ready a storm was blowing outside. As we are on the cliff front it sounded much worse than it was but it was pretty bad. Our roof started leaking slightly but luckily the heavy showers were over after a few moments. Joss painted a logo on his new T-shirt with our Fluorescent paints and I painted a flower, a Phoenix and a series of...

Basically we get up, do Yoga IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE, eat brakfast someplace with an AMAZING VIEW OF THE BEACH, hit the beach SEE PICS =), have lunch AT AN AMAZING PLACE, hit the meditation AGAIN IN THE JUNGLE, and for some reason there seems to...

Dec 18, 2009 - LAST DAY.

We were picked up an driven this morning to Baan Tai Paan which is were the elephants are There were only three elephants, two females and a baby of 4 years old, we were very disappointed the way that they are treated, the mam out who is the guy that sits on the elephants neck kept stabbing a metal nail into her neck to make her walk forward, thru the jungle, but we were amazed how powerful they are as she could open a coconut with her trunk and drink the milk from inside, the mamout then got off and after some shouting from him she walked...

Well guys not alot has happened over the last two days, ventured down the beach yesterday and went into beach bar had a couple of beers, and something that resembled a burger, not sure what meat it was but there was one less dog in the afternoon, only joking...... Had another great meal last night and spoke to the chief, who is a really nice guy, he was asking our opinion of what we thought of the resort, as they have had some negatives on the tripadvisor. We have planed a trip for tomorrow as its our last full day here, we are going off...

Dec 17, 2009 - Coral Bunglows in Hat Rin

The next six nights and days was a cycle of sleeping, eating and well drinking ! We hardly stirred a finger other than to go to the pool, the beach, the bar or the restaurant. Marie's burn was healing nicely, and other than the some of the other residents at the hotel complex we had a nice time. We unfortunately had the wonderful company of what we nicknamed 'the beautiful people', who were so far up themselves we were surprised that they could see the sun shine! It was a group of English lads, and the odd girl, who had been coming there...

Dec 14, 2009 - Cooking lessons and strange name syndrome

It is a weird to have to accept that truth is stranger than fiction. In the book i was reading whilst in Brisbane airport " Busty, Slag and Nob End " - remarkably rude but real names of people, places and products from all over the world, Russell Ash advises that whilst there were only 5 families with the surname Nipple in the UK there were 1990 of the poor sods in USA. There are a whole load of other much much ruder names but i do appreciate i am addressing a family audience here ! God only knows what Mr Ash would make of Thailand ! Mum...

Dec 12, 2009 - The Boat to Koh Phangan

Chumphon literally being a through town, we headed off the next day and caught our catamaran over to the island. The boat ride was uneventful, however the pier to get out to the catamaran was like Fear Factor, extremely old and rickety and a million miles long. Other than being freezing due to the A/C, Marie slept and Sarah watched the back of a blokes head in attempt to watch the film that was being played. When we arrived, we had already booked our accommodation, and just had to get transport there, which was easy enough, as you where...

Ingles - Espanol FER: Hello =) Ok SO MUCH to share and so little time so what I'm going to do is summerise a little bit and give you a few highlights. So getting back to Bangkok where we left of last time. Linda and Cholo were great and really made us feel at home while with them. We thought we were going to spend Thanksgiving without turkey, ham, gravy and such. But we had a GREAT thanksgiving dinner with the gang from Peng Mansion =) We went to a night market but instead of just stands allover the place, it was like a festival with...

Nov 22, 2009 - Thai Medical System

It was a very bumpy ride to Haad Rin. I had not been on this road before, and even though Cory and Elaine tried to prepare me, my purple hands were white knuckled at some points from supporting myself and trying not to get bounced around too much. Whew, is all I can say for when it was finally over. Cory and Elaine dropped off the luggage before we headed to the Clinic to have her ear checked out. Medical can be a concern when you are in another country, and what better reason to check it out than with an earache. Despite the fact that...

Nov 18, 2009 - Koh Pha Ngan

If you are looking for a relaxing paradise to unwind, this is the island for you!! We stayed at an amazing place on the beach that is run by a local Thai family, I think there was maybe 6 other people staying at the villas during our stay, so it was a quiet, private, wonderful paradise! I have to pack so Michal will continue.... Our days were spent having a light breakfast cooked by the Thai family and then heading off to the beach (about 15 feet away) for several hours of swimming, tanning, reading and relaxing in the hammocks. We would...
