Jul 22, 2008 - Full Moon Party - Koh Phangan

Well, let me just start off by saying that Koh Phangan definitely lived up to its reputation as an insane party island. But like Vegas, its one of those places you can only spend a couple of nights at at a time before you need a vacation from your vacation. I got to Koh Phangan via ferry from Koh Tao on the 17th of July. I was traveling with one other guy and girl I have met while at my diving course on Koh Tao. (Its always nice to be traveling with other people when you get to a new town..makes you feel a lot safer.) When we arrived at the...

Jul 13, 2008 - Koh Phangan

The journey from Bangkok to Koh Phangan went smoothly. First we had a bus which took us to Chumporn, where we arrived at 4am. I had not slept on the bus and when sitting in deckchairs waiting for the dawn and the boat I did not manage to sleep either. The dawn was really beautiful though as the sun slowly illuminated the clear water of the sea, the white sandy beach with the simple wooden jetty and the distant, jungle covered islands. Eventually it was time to board and now there was no possibility to sleep so we had a couple of beers over...

Jun 19, 2008 - Koh Phangan

So I realize that we haven't upadated this for a while... Inernet is pretty expensive here and we have been pretty busy. We got to Koh Phangang late in the afternoon on the 15 and just chilled for the day (we may have been hungover). The next day (16th) we rented some scooters and headed to the north side of the island to do some snorkling. It was awesome! We saw a ton of fish and some sea urchins too. The ride up was kinda sketchy (20% hills) but it gave some spectacular views! The next day (17) we still had the bikes for the morning so...

Todas...

May 20, 2008 - Full Moon Party @ Koh Phangan

May 18, 2008 - Koh Phangan

Hi So we stayed on the island a couple days, pretty much hanging out on the beach. Did however got to get tai massages, which was very good. It was funny to see this man try to bend and stretch chris in funny positions and to hear him scream. We also went to the half moon party while on the island, which was over priced and pretty much like any other rave you have ever seen. We didnt stay long and really i would be content to never go again.

May 14, 2008 - Angthong national Marine Park Excursion - Arrival into Koh Phangan

An early rise this morning...it's not raining! We checked out of our hotel and had an early pick up for our day excursion to the Angthong Marine Park. It is said to be one of Thailands most beautiful parks. It is a Marine Park that consists of 42 islands known for the snorkeling and kayaking. Little did I realize it would be a full day work out! We boarded a jet boat to take us to the first stop which is about 1 hour away. And, for that one hour it seemed that I had the prime seat...to get pelleted with water that is. I was pushed to the...

Mar 2, 2008 - Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan is the home of the world famous Full Moon Party. Every full moon there is a huge all night party on Haad Rin beach with all kinds of DJ's, drinks and debauchery. Read about it here: http://fullmoonparty-thailand.com/ Needless to say we wanted to attend one. But our timing was off as we got to the island just after one of the parties. So....we're coming back. We're going to continue on through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam and then come back for the full moon party on April 20. There is also a 3 day beach soccer...

Feb 21, 2008 - Beginning the Adventure at Neptune Villa

After a rough round of allergy/food poisoning I managed to recoup in time for my flight to Thailand. Allyson (a French Canadian) and I were traveling together for the 2 weeks so she slept over and we caught a cab at around 5:45 am to being the adventure. We landed in Phuket and on our flight were 2 of my roommates, Dave and Max, and 2 other exchange students, Jens and Edward. The six of us decided we would hire a mini bus to drive us up to Surat Thani where we would catch a ferry to Koh Phangan. It cost us 800 bath each for the 4 hour...

Feb 20, 2008 - Koh Phangan, Thailand

After a long 5 days in Ao Nang, we headed to the Full Moon Party capital of the world, Koh Phangan. Because the full moon party is in a few days, the main beach is pretty crowded! We decided to stay away from the chaos, and headed to Haad Yao, on the West Coast. Nice beaches, and staying in a small, family run bungalow. From the moment we walked into the bungalows, they were very concerned about Bryan (who at this point hasn't fully recovered from the food poisoning) They spent some time making him some soup and giving him a little bottle...

Dec 27, 2007 - Koh Pha-Ngan

Greetings from Koh Pha-Ngan our second, and final island stop on the Southwestern Gulf Coast of Thailand. Tomorrow morning we hop into a taxi at 6am for a 10 to 12 hour, taxi, ferry, bus, taxi, ferry trip to the Southern Andaman Sea side of the country. Should be fun...... We have enjoyed a quiet, blissful 5 day visit to Koh Pha-Ngan. Our bungalow is on Chaophao Bay, described in the book as "being one of the more tranquil beaches on the western coast, with a charming lagoon at the southern end of the beach". Certainly true, as our days have...

Dec 11, 2007 - Koh Samui & Koh Phangan

Sawatdee again from Thailand! Our time on these islands on either coast of Thailand has been relaxing & has allowed us to experience one aspect of this great country with many more experiences to follow. As most of you know, islands/beach towns tend to lack a lot of culture and these are no exception although we've been lucky and managed to find some throughout. So far, the Thai people have been friendly but not overly helpful unless they are trying to sell you something. They don't tend to show much emotion on their face most of the time...
