Feb 3, 2011 - Nakhon Si Thammarat.

3 February. Time to leave Songkhla. The minibus departed 11.30 o’clock and 2 and a half hour later we were in Nakhon Si Thammarat (NST). We checked in at the Thai Hotel. The first choice I had on my pre maid hotel list. From outside it did not look much as hotel. But we got a decent room. The prize, about a third compare with Green World in Songkhla. NST as a town has rather little to offer a tourist like me, basically it only have one attraction, the Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihaan, a temple which is considered as one of the most...

Feb 16, 2009 - Nakhon Si Thammarat

Well this is kind of a nothing town but we managed to find an icecream place so I guess it is alright:) We went out for a disgusting dinner later (by sausages they meant boiled hotdog, by coleslaw they meant hot coleslaw... it was just gross). Luckily we were only in the town as a stop over. This morning we got up and went to a shawdow puppet masters place and he gave us a show and we got to see old puppets from hundreds of years ago. I bought my first piece of art which is the princess from the story we were shown. It's black and made from...

Oct 22, 2007 - Nakhon Si Thammarat

We got a mini-bus across the Malaysian/Thai border and then we got a public bus to Nakhon Si Thammarat. NST is a nice town; it's not spoilt by tourists which was a good way to see Thailand before we go to the tourist spots like Koh Samui. We went to a shadow puppet theatre which was interesting; it had a museum there also. The hotel we stayed in was really nice and really cheap, we had a king size bed. That night we went to a nice restaurant for some mai thais and green and red curries.

Oct 16, 2006 - Beautiful Thailand! Crazy CC Bloom's!

Well my tickets arrived safely by courier from Hong Kong and so we could finally leave Singapore. We went back to the lovely Singapore Airport, no time to use the roof top pool unfortunately! We flew Silk Airways to Phuket, they are part of Singapore Airlines, though I must say not half as good! When we landed Phuket airport was a breeze! Maybe we are just becoming hardened travellers now (6 flights and same amount of airports later)! We had to wait a while to go through immigration but after that we managed to get a taxi no problem. It...

Jan 3, 2006 - Shadow Puppets in the Rain

So the adventure continues and thankfully away from the tourist transportation trap of Surat Thani. Although every Thai at the bus stations is quick to ask "Where you go?" we still felt herded and rather swindled as we bought a bus ticket from one guy, who forgot about us, and then when prompted, shuttled us over to another man who had his own minibus where they had a strange exchange of money. All this after a long ferry ride from Ko Phagnan where the bodies of 20-somethings littered the upper deck, all of us exhausted from the New Year's...

Dec 19, 2005 - Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand

The kids reluctantly left Langkawi. Even though it had started to rain we didn't like to say goodbye to our new Norwegian friends: Oscar, Janne, Trym, Idun & Gyri. The kids really had a wonderful time playing together. Thanks for this! We went by ferry to Thailand and after having spent one night at the not-so-thrilling border town of Satun, we have now settled down for a few days here in Nakhon Si Thammerat. Saturday was a long travelling day. We started out in Satun 11am and reached this town in the evening at 7pm. The bus brought us as...
