May 18, 2007 - Bath-Stonehenge-Brighton

Another early day - trying to beat the peak hour traffic into Bath, which I think we did quite well. First in to the Roman Baths. Amazing to see all the old artefact's and how the Romans lived many many many years ago! Morning tea at the Pump House - entertained by a violinist, pianist and cellist - great. Wandered around Bath and then headed to Stonehenge. As we approached they looked look as big as we had envisaged however when we were there and looking at the crowds along the fence we decided they were huge. Still don't know why or how...

Oct 3, 2006 - Horsham, England - Thank you, Steve and Sarah!

After being hosted so wonderfully by Nathan and Samatee, we headed south to meet some longtime friends of Tomas's - Steve and Sarah, and their kids Ruby and Freddie. And Steve, being an Underwood, had to do one better than Nathan. Not only did we get a room, but the entire house. OK, most of it was still being repaired due to a broken toilet and devastating water leak while they were on vacation earlier this year. But the parts that were working were on the order of luxurious for two weary backpackers. A spectacular BBQ trip to the local...

Jun 13, 2006 - Brighton

So here we are in Brighton. Our most excellent host, Mr. Shaun Stanley of Contiki fame has set us up at his place. Hats off to your roomies and youself, and of course Christine as well for letting us use and abuse your room and Internet. Also, bringing us appies and beers... that like, really attractive. That when I knew Shaun had found himself a keeper :D Thanks! Brighton is a really cool little town that hardly feels like England. It is sort of unique onto itself I guess. Its got some really nice scenery though as well as some excellent...

Jun 10, 2006 - Right on ... Bright on

Today was going to be a trying day. I awoke to feeling like shit. Since we'd come back from Munich, both Justine and I had developed Perry's illness - sore throat, coughing and all that. I gulped back a small truckload of various pills to get me through the day (travel pills, paracetemol, etc. not the other kind) and headed off with Justine to the Victoria bus station where we'd be taking the National Express, which I'd booked weeks ago, to Brighton. It wasn't until we were halfway to the station that I realised Justine had emptied...

Apr 24, 2006 - 1st Day - London, England

Our plane left Toronto, Canada at about 7:00pm and landed in London England at 6:30 am. Linsay Michael has been so good to us and has even lent us her extra set of keys to her flat with Blake Moran and her friend Bec. I haven't really slept since 7am Ontario time yesterday so I'm quite wiped out right now (approximately 9:15pm Uk time, or 4:15pm in Ontario). The first part of the trip has been queue after queue and line after line. My feet are tired just from holding onto the bag and standing in one place. However, we arrived and met...

Apr 4, 2006 - Brighton

We travelled down to Brighton on Sunday to spend a couple of days with Paul and Joe. We have had a very pleasant time, pottering about the town. It's been sunny and fairly warm, so we are starting to get back into travelling mood. We fly from Gatwick to Athens tomorrow, and have booked a couple of nights in Athens, but then... who knows? We are pretty sure it will involve visiting Tilos fairly soon. Watch this space... I have also bought Joe's old camera so I might even manage to post some photos in stage 3, but I am not promising.... link...

Mar 19, 2006 - Brighton

A day trip to Brighton. It is becoming one of the most happening places in England, with a lot of day trippers from London. There is such a mixture of people, with the large gay population making it quite a retro place. We spent the morning walking around 'The Lanes'. This is a group of streets with boutiques, Asian import shops, CD's etc. Was good for people watching! I'ss explain the photo of the milkshake shop. You could choose any flavouring you wanted. Basically any chocolate bar. I got Daim (Swedish choc bar). Really good...

Feb 20, 2006 - Brighton day trip

Another quiet weekend, so Korina and I decided on a day trip to Brighton. Brighton is only an hour away from London on the train, and is a popular destination for people looking to get out to the coast from the big smoke. However, summer is usually the time of the year to do this, and we found out why as upon arrival as it was absolutely teeming with rain. Luckily we had bought wet weather gear so we continued on down to the pier (despite the misleading directions from the bus driver who seemed somewhat surprised that there was actually a...

Chris's rant fest

Oct 17, 2005 - Brighton

Up early today and off onto the Underground to Victoria bus station with our backpacks. Luvin the transport system here. It works wonders. New Zealand would function so well with one of these. Pity we have so much ocean around! Anyway, booked and payed for tickets then onto the bus for a few hours. A huge upgrade from our Contiki bus we were used to. Leather seats, tv and space!! We were such lucky to have such a beautiful day. Blue sky and the sun was shining. We had planned to stay at a YHA hostel but easily changed our minds when we...

Sep 20, 2005 - Sunny Brighton

We have been couped up in London for a while now and its was such a nice day... so stuff it! Jumped on the train and headed to the Beach! Its only an hour or so on the train through the rolling hills of the english country side. The Beach was pebbaly and some what crowded, but it was cool all same. The Royal Pavillion was the stand out though, Built for and english King way back when. Indian influence on the outside, completely Chinese on the inside!!! Interesting tastes these English Kings.... Anyway the weather was just superb, and we...

Aug 6, 2005 - Pride Party in Brighton

After a slow start out the door, it was a quick stop to my contiki hotel (eww) to lose the baggage then Fran Shez and I headed to the south of England to Brighton for an amazing pride dance party (about 4 times the size of the big day out - but this is the big gay out). Had a wonderful people watching time (the outfits were totally amazing) certainly an eventful day and night. Farewells to my dear friends Shez and Fran - and THANK YOU BOTH for such an amazing start to my holiday. x's
