Sep 12, 2004 - A boat to Newcastle...
Pretty cool...after I made it to the boat and went directly to my room for some sleep. I woke up feeling like a new man and quite enjoyed the cruise ship food, entertainment, and activities. We found ourselves in some pretty heavy seas by late afternoon, and I awoke to see many people not looking so great up on the main floors. We encountered 8 gale winds accompanied by 5 to 7 meter waves and apparently they do not sail in 9 gale winds. Newcastle's a little different to Barcelona. A tad colder for one thing. Anyway, am off to London tomorrow for "Stephen's Elective 2004" part 2: Great Ormond Street Hospital to do special care babbies and paediatric intensive care. Having anticipated a long, hard slog of a summer - I mean, it's Great Ormond Street! - I emailed my supervisor somewhat tentatively to ask him what reading and stuff he thought I should do. Jun 20, 2004 - Homeward Bound - Stage 1
Friday June 18th We left the cottage at 6am and were headed for Newcastle where we would begin our 24 hour journey home. The first rain we had seen in days was falling quite heavily, which made it easier to go, but we were sad to say good-bye to the family as we knew we wouldn't be seeing them for sometime.
