We had moved from Cambridge via Birmingham to Wareham, Dorset as Heather had an outpatient appointment with the consultant who will do her gallbladder operation. The appointment went well, the consultant anticipating that the operation would take place before end of June. We had gone down to Dorset for a family christening but we never got to it as Heather had acute severe pain which her prescribed pain killers did not help and spent 16 hours in Poole hospital. However when she was feeling better again we did meet up with Tony’s elder...Jump to full entry
Jan 18, 2013 - Our Canadian friends would be laughing now!
We woke up to a blanket of snow- a few inches. It continued to snow on and off most of the day. Compared to the rest of the country we got away lightly. As always it caused the usual chaos in the UK. We could imagine oue Canadian friends just laughing! Daisy just loved the snow -rolling and charging about like a mad idiot! Everything smelt different! We continued to spend our time researching going into Europe. It surprising how long it takes.Jump to full entry
Jan 1, 2013 - Sunny New Year's Day
Agfter all of the grey skies and rain we have experienced in December the New Year dawned dry and sunny so we decided to head for the coast. We thought we would head to Studland beach but there was so many people there we headed further along the coast to Worth Matravers. We enjoyed our walk but the cliff path was very muddy in places (after all the rain) and quite difficult to walk. It so good to see the sunshine!Jump to full entry
Dec 31, 2012 - All change again!
We got the coach back from Gold RV the slide-out fully repaired but we are still waiting for the replacement levelling jack to arrive from the US. It appears that Gold RV have done a really good careful job. We now just need to get the reimbursement from Tiffin!. Gold had found the slide floor was definitly rotting due to poor build and lack of sealent and where there was any sealent it was very poor quality. We returned to the campground in Chichester and setup. We intended to have a quiet Christmas in Chichester. Again little did we know...Jump to full entry
The weather was not that great but we decided to head out the Clouds Hill the small and very modest cottage of T. E Lawrence- Lawrence of Arabia. Lawrence rented the cottage in 1923 while stationed at Bovington Camp with the Tank Corps and finally purchased it in 1925. He said of Clouds Hill 'I've a hut in a wood near camp wherein I spend my spare evenings'. At the time it was an isolated cottage and very austere. He lived there, when not on base, until 1935 when tragically a few weeks after leaving the RAF he was killed in a motorcycle...Jump to full entry
Sep 2, 2012 - Changing Base to Dorset
Today we had a reasonably short journey in mileage as opposed to time from the Southampton area to Wareham in Dorset. It was a slow journey due to the heavy traffic but we got to the our new campground at Wareham Forest without any problems. Although on our day of arrival we had had a quick walk in the forest the next morning we went for our morning walk and got lost in the forest! All the tracks looked the same but eventuly got back safely. A half hour walk had turned into an hour and a half walk! Tony was just starting to get worried....Jump to full entry
