Mar 17, 2013 - A Lot Of Empty Wine Bottles

A little chilly in the morning but once again it warmed up nicely into the low seventies again today. Mary had a busy morning processing the weekend receipts, I kept busy cleaning campsites and fire pits. I'm really impressed with the campers here, the garbage cans may be full but there is hardly a scrap if paper left laying around especially considering the number of empty wine bottles in the garbage. Went up to Don and Marti's this evening, they have decided to go back over to Kosovo for a month this summer but will be in Minnesota this...

Mar 16, 2013 - Rattle Snake

Feeling the effects of two days of weed eating and the back pack leaf blower in my shoulders and upper arms today. Shane, Margarida, Greg and Patti came over for a grilled chicken lunch today. Before Greg and Patti got here me an Shane went looking through the three old houses on the property, one is being fixed up to rent out the other two are being left to collapse. While wandering the grounds we found a bunch of pieces of obsidian and I got a good picture of a rattle snake we ran across. .

Mar 15, 2013 - Firewood, The Never Ending Chore

Don and Marti split up another truck load of fire wood that we stacked up at my place, I need to shrink wrap about 10 bundles a day in preparation for the full house we will have next weekend. Tyler and me were unable to figure out why my cart keeps blowing the head light circuit fuses so I guess we'll need to call a cart repairman with a schematic to get it fixed.

Mar 13, 2013 - Turkey Mating Season?

Must be mating season for wild turkeys because there is sure a lot of gobbling going on in the woods around us. I've received numerous compliments from our campers on how nice the campground looks but today I was especially honored when a couple who has been here for four days asked me if I wanted a letter of recommendation saying I had his vote for campground host of the year.

Mar 12, 2013 - Greg, Patti & Hippo Visit

Hadn't seen or heard wild turkey's all winter but all of a sudden we have them running around all over the campground. Greg and Pattie checked into Napa Valley campground in Calistoga yesterday for a week because they have full hook ups there. They came over for a grilled pork chop lunch this afternoon then later on everyone came over for dessert. Mary was so happy to see Hippo again but was saddened to find out that he is almost gone blind since we seen him last fall, he's just not his usual cheerful, playful self anymore.

Mar 11, 2013 - Yuppie Food Court

As soon as Mary got off at noon we went into Napa and had lunch at the Oxbow Public Market which is kind of a yuppie tourist version of a food court. After lunch I dropped Mary off at WalMart while I went over to EZ-Go golf cart dealer to pick up a replacement key switch and some electrical terminals. I spent the rest of the afternoon rewiring my cart, got the cart running now I need to find the short in the headlight wiring.

Mar 10, 2013 - Hit By Vandals

My day started out with not being able to get my key to work on my golf cart, upon closer inspection I discovered it had been vandalized. Not only did they mess up the ignition switch they lifted the seat up and cut all the electrical wires in the battery compartment. I park the cart in front of the bathroom right under the light so I can plug it in every night less than a hundred feet from our coach plus there were tent campers right across the road, I can't believe that one of our campers would have done this. Californian's are really...

Mar 9, 2013 - Another Long Day

Another eleven hour day, we were only a little over three quarters full but it kept me hopping all day. Another beautiful day that started out in the mid thirties and topped out at 69F so Mary was also busy trying to get her accounting done and staff the visitor center.

We all decided to go up to River Rock Casino for lunch, Don and Marti rode with us while Bill and Sheila followed us up in their pick up because they always take Molly with them anytime they go anywhere. Finally finished spreading the last of my gravel pile, been to cold the last couple of days but this afternoon warmed up nicely so I got in a little practice time on the banjo

Mar 6, 2013 - Culinary Institute of America

We had lunch today at the Culinary Institute of America (www.ciachef.edu/california) Bakery Restaurant in St Helena, it is a world renown cooking school housed in an old stone winery that looks like a castle. This afternoon the clouds cleared and the sun came through but it still didn't make it past 50F, forgot to stand up my wheel barrow last night so when I checked this evening it looks like we got just over two inches of rain from this last storm system.

Mar 4, 2013 - Do Birds Sleep?

Mary had a fairly light day at the office and I continued to knock down the gravel pile. Birds must not sleep at night because there is sure a lot of chirping going on all night long. Did take a short break to drive into Napa for our weekly stop at Wal-Mart.
